I have a 1995 S10 Blazer 4.3 auto, I just bought it 2 weeks ago for winter and it appears that the auto hubs don't lock up bc I can put it into 4hi, and 4low but it doesn't appear that my front tires are spinning ? What would cause this ?

it is probably the vaccume acctuator under the battery tray. first you should check the t-case motor. turn the key on but dont start the truck, then push the 4hi button and listen for the sound of an electric motor followed by one click. if you hear that the shift motor is most likely good. after that disconnect your battery and remove battery tray under the tray you will see a metal and rubber plunger looking device. disconnect the metal cable from the accuator and pull out on cable, where the metal cable goes into plastic put a pair of vise-grips to hold out on the cable .reassemble and give it a try.

no, that is how the factory engages 4wd for that vehicle. Cable gets pulled, then a sleeve on the inner axle shaft locks both shafts together and now there is power to the front axle.

Thanks for the help. I am going to go out and give it a shot.

I was hoping it was something simple, bc when I put it into 4low it seemed like the transfer case was working.

my z71 had the same problem, i was told i had a bad transfer case though. idk if the guy who looked at it was giving me a load of crap though

I had the same issue with my old 89 S-10 Blazer. I used a vise grip on the cable to keep the front end engaged until the weather warmed up and I was able to replace the actuator.

:haha:I had an 84 that had many miles in four wheel drive with a pair of vise grips on the cable. Had one Girl friend that thought I was a bit to redneck because of that.

I don't miss her.
