4wd noise

Kids in bed, popped questionable ujoint out didnt see anything amiss. Cleaned everything up and popped new ujoint in.
Flipped to the axle end popped a cap, missing bearings. UGH. Now I could scavenge off the other one and toss some in but Im not gonna mess with it.
Ill buy another ujoint tomorrow and pop it in and see what I get.

If the truck did not have the issue at all before you changed out the initial u-joint then I would look there first. Did you get the u-joint installed correctly? Is it seated in the yoke properly? Something to that effect. Make sure you have the correct u-joints and install both of them the correct way and make sure they are installed in the transfer case and pinion yokes correctly. Did you separate the two halves of the driveshaft at the slip yoke? If you did then it could be out of phase.

Never separated the two halves. 2 new ujoints going in tomorrow and ill see where I am from there.

Epic fail today. Ujoint grease fitting hits and prevents shaft from turning. Tried 2 different fittings no go. Got a new joint coming, non greaseable. Be in in an hour or two. Total pain today, nothings gone right. Xp

Got the new joint, no time to put it in maybe after kids go to bed. Today has sucked. Almost 400$ for a key for my wife's car (2015 mazda).

Sorry, i knew better about the zerk and forgot.
Sucks about the key

2 more ujoints later, issue is still there.
At this point I feel like it is the bearing on the output shaft. Maybe the driveshaft angle is pulling downward on it and its just worn it out. It would also explain the gear grind sound I am getting. and why it might only do this under the 2wd conditions i mentioned.
So from here...
1. How hard is that bearing to replace?
2. Can it be done with the transfer case still in the truck?

This looks to be the part in question...

A quick youtube search is this what I am looking to do? (more or less)
This video @ 4:54 looks like it has to be pounded out from the back.

I get that noise above 35 in 4x4 on when traction is high (aired down tires and packed down dirt road). I blame it on crappy front u joint angles and a sloppy 205...I am sure the noises would be scary if I drove on asphalt locked in 4.
