I tried my 4x4 and it's only works in 4low Can anyone give me some advice

Need more information. What king of truck, stock, modified, which transfer case, etc?

First thing to do is crawl under it and check the linkage

Does the shifter move freely? Too freely like it's not connected? Or is it rigid like it's stuck?

The 208 shifter is a multi piece deal, I'd bet something on the underside has come loose like @Bent77.

203 is multi part .

208 is just a single lever and rod to lever on t-case .

last 208 i had with same problems was blown up . once i pulled the drain plug i had needle bearing guts rolling out with the burnt atf oil .

Shifter lever to a rod to an actuator lever = multi piece. :thumb: I guess they’re all multi piece really. :dunno:

I had the tcase inspected and service fluid change and sealed

Assuming it works in 2wd and when you shift into 4 low. Based on that it definitely sounds like the shifter linkage issue. 4 high uses the same parts 4 low will use, with 4 low just engaging the planetary gears but the power still flows through the chain and front output shaft.

Should probably ask this question...........when you say it doesn't work what exactly is happening, or why do you say this?

If you are expecting it to feel like 4 low then that’s an issue. 4 high really isn’t much of a gear change from 2 high. 4 low is completely different.

Well I don't have any traction on the front wheels, it's snow's here and my back in is fish tailing. I went into a ditch front wheels wasn't spinning. I put it in 4low and all 4 wheels are spinning

If it works in 4lo then it should work in 4hi. Check the shifter linkage like stated above. It might not be engaging all the way. It happens.

You said 6” lift, all suspension or any body lift? Did it used to work properly and now it doesn’t? Worked before the lift?

I’m betting it’s a linkage issue too, especially if there’s been a body lift or transfer case dropped to make the driveshaft angles work better. I bet your hitting the body with the shifter.

^^^was just going to type this^^^

lots of lifted trucks have this issue....
especially with body lifts..... pull the shifter floor plate and take a look while moving the tcase lever thru the ranges.. shifter or linkage may be hitting the body or something else on the tcase or frame.

Y’all overlooking the fact that if it has 2h and 4l, that is the full range of shifter motion. So it can’t be the linkage not getting full travel.
It is possible something happened to the detents and he is hitting a partial neutral or something

208 / 241 cant do this . its a solid unit bolted to the floor unlike the 203 and 205 with shiifter boot .

x2 . ether he thinks he is in 4l but is in fact 4 high or there is a major mixup inside the t-case from the rebuild job . but i have not had a 208 or 241 apart to know for sure .

and if me at this point pop linkage off . put shifter handle in 2wd then make sure t-case is all the way in 2wd . check for linkage rod length and possible adjustment .

BUT BLOCK the wheels before getting under the vehicle . you do not need it rolling and hurting you .
