I have to say I'd go 6.0 instead. I just got done with a 1200 mile trip pulling 9500lbs in my Silverado with the 6.0 and never felt like I needed more power. I pulled every pass on I80 from just above Sacramento Calif. To Rock springs Wy without dropping below 60. Most times I had to lift my foot because I would look down and see I was speeding while climbing.

You'll pay a higher price for a 6.0 and 5.3 engines are much more available (much cheaper as a result). Just my 2 cents...

Don't forget your stock gauges won't be compatible with the new motor and trans, but I have you covered for new gauges and new dash when you get ready to wire it.
