Alittle off topic, but I've got a 1954 Dodge M37 with 5.83 gears in the diffs and a divorced NP200 tc. I want to repower to a 350/700r4 (1989 vintage trans from a 2wd) and run Q78-16 Swampers. I don't plan on doing over 55mph, so I figure this will be a good combo. The only concern is the trans, it should be ok long as I keep it cool, yes? Truck weighs in at 5300lbs empty.

With 5.83 axle gears and 36" tires, you should be fine with a 700R4 and a big trans cooler. 180deg. fluid temp seems to be the consensus for the highest temp you want to see regularly. Run a trans temp gauge so you know. If interior appearance is a concern, mount the gauge out of sight...
