My neighbor randomely offered me a free set of 5 tons and there less than 1 mile away.

What da ya think?

good luck moving them. Oh and sell them, no reason to put them under your blazer if thats what your thinking

I was goin to run 2.5 tons but I cant find them anywhere around MASS. These popped up for free.

Overkill?

way overkill, unless your going to run 66" tires and 1500hp. Those two axles probably weigh as much as your entire blazer :eek1:

IMO, i'd change the gear oil, check/tune the breaks, then wire wheel the outside and paint it with some heavy duty **** and sell em.

you see its like this-a dana 60 front is great, all the parts are great, strong and easy to find stuff for-but a dana 70 front (which you would think would be stronger) is harder to find parts for and some of the stuff is weaker...not to say that a 5 ton everything is stronger than a 2.5 ton (you would think so) but parts may not be as readily available...you see what im getting at...sometimes is better not to have the hedache..

Thanks!

I appreciate all the input.
Im gonna wait to find some 2.5's. Tempting though, free stuff versus, $1500+. I think it would work out better in the long run though.

Well at least get em, clean em and sell em! And get some money to go towards getting the 2.5's :wink1:

I would, only problem is there still under the truck, in the corner of a boat yard, surrounded by a bunch of junk boats and poison ivy. It would probably be more of a pain than it would be worth. If I was goin to use them I would be more into makin it happen.

Why couldnt a sweet deal like this involving 2.5's come around? Go figure!

Yeah if they would be worth just a few hundred dollars for scrap or selling, it would probably be worth a day's work to get em out.

Around her steel is 115 a ton. I don't think they would be worth the work. Unless you sell them for what they are . That is only 160 dollar's. Not worth poisen Ivy Imho.
Well assuming there are 2 drive axles and 1 steer, it's a little closer to $300. But moving shtuff...might make that too much of a hassle, regardless. If you could get the entire truck for free...that might make it worth it. More scrap, and it most likely will roll.

EDIT: if ya clean yourself off as soon as you get home (shouldnt take so long since they're so close) and toss your clothes right in the washer, you shouldn't get any poison ivy.
