Alright, I'm throwing down the gauntlet and saying it officially in a public forum....

I WILL BE AT BLAZERBASH 2018 WITH MY COMPLETED "MIGHT AS WELL™" BUILD TRUCK!!!!

I figure that gives me 5.5 more years to get it completely built, tested, tweaked, painted and 100% ready to rock-n-roll with no excuses for that event.

Given the historical milestone (50 years since the release of the 1969 K5) I suspect we should be working to engage GM somehow to get their support, get some marketing around the event....maybe even some TV coverage from one of the shows (HotRodTV, Xtreme4x4, etc)

Some of you might think this is serious sandbagging on my part, but let's face it, I'm 3 years into the project and still have a long way to go... Consider this my official challenge to any other CK5'er out there who feels that a trip to Moab is something they can only dream about (or something only "other" guys get to do).... put yourself on this list NOW and let the rest of us hold you accountable for getting prepped and ready to go. :deal:

There is plenty of time to plan for this one, to start throwing coins in a jar to pay for fuel and hotels and incidentals (beer)... and plenty of time to arrange for time off from work, etc.

Who's with me? I'd really love to see a huge turnout at this event and have a chance to meet all the folks who have been encouraging and pushing me along on this site for the last 11 years.

EDIT: It was pointed out to me that the original 1969 Blazer would have been introduced in the fall of 1968..... therefore, the true 50th Anniversary BlazerBash would actually occur in 2018, not 2019.

Losing an extra year for the build puts some additional pressure on... :eek1:

What makes y'all think there will be a BlazerBash in 2019?

I WILL be there as well Greg! I certainly hope to get to at least a couple before that, but this one I will make happen:waytogo:

You mean because of the end-of-the-world happening on Dec 21st when the Mayan calendar ends, or due to some sort of zombie apocalypse??? :haha:

No. Because of the fact that small events like BlazerBash are very much dependent on active participation from year to year, and therefore shouldn't be taken for granted.

I've been working on my yard ornament of a k5 for about 6 yrs now so that time line is just right for me. I'll probably get mine cranked and wheel-able about a month before that BB so I don't see any reason we can't make it. :thumb: :woot:

I like your optimism.:thumb:
I will say this, if I still own a chevy truck that is driveable, I will be there.
I missed the Kaiser jeep invasion, the 50th aniversary of Kaiser, I had built my jeep and was heading that way and then broke down on the way 3 times so I quit and ended up going to Pismo the following week and meeting the Norcalbigdawgs on memorial week end.
I will try not to miss this one.
I might actually have a nice rig if my life doesn't take me in another direction so we'll see.:dunno:

I think we've found our official grumpy old man!

Nothing new here.

All I'm saying is that if people want BlazerBash to remain in existence in future years, they need to attend to keep it going.

I'm in as well, I plan on making 2014 with BART and the Maiden, should have enough gas money saved by 2019 to do it again!
