52" rear springs on the front!

Re: 52\" rear springs on the front!

Got out there today and did some more making room up front so I can keep the axle as far forward as I have it now. Now to drop 7-8" of lift. and get them 52's under there.

I had kinda thought about using rear lift springs to keep a little heigth. Heck with it though. I'm gona go back to stock springs for the 4" and stuff 44's in there one way or another.

Re: 52\" rear springs on the front!

Just finished this on a blazer this weekend. He started with 10.5" lift. We swaped in 6" BDS rear springs and a ORD zero rate. (he already bought U-bolts for that thick of a pack. Ended up being around 12" of lift. We pulled the overload sping and the next spring up in the pack and it ended up being 10.5" after that. Way soft now should have some crazy flex. After we bolt the winch and bumper back on (won't fit with the relocated shackle) I think it will settle another inch. I think he will probably need to install some bump stops to keep from over flexing. If it sags too much we can always just add the bottom spring back.

Re: 52\" rear springs on the front!

If I utilize the front spring hangers in their present/stock position, and relocate the rear shackle to the rear; will the front axle remain in a stock location? I ask this, since I do not wish to do a crossover at this time, but want the 4" of lift. Thanks for your time and attention. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

yes, you have to go crossover since your axle will move forward 2 inches. you only need to remove the overload leaf.

as for the resulting flex...

What kind of shocks are those?

How the hell can you even still have down travel available on your shocks with that much flex?

I've got 15 inch Pro Comp 9000's for $30 each. I just couldn't see spending another $200 bucks for the extra inch you can get with the Rancho's. I'd say mine are doing the job. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: 52\" rear springs on the front!

Is the above pic of your ford tower with that shock? It just is beyond me how you can have that much down travel and not run out of shock.

I've got the 12.5" travel gabrials and i run out of shocks WAYYYYYYYYYYYY before they ever get where yours are above. Are there shocks on the truck where youre all flexed out in that picture?

Yes, that is my shock, and my shock tower. Yes, the shocks are attached in all the pics. Consider that as a tire droops and the tire on the other side is stuffed, that drooping tire travel in an arc under the shock bolt so the shock does not have to travel an inch for every inch of travel at the tire. So 2.5 inches at the shock may tranlate to 4 inches at the tire. Also the further you can stuff the other side, the further down the droop tire will go without needing to extend the shock any further.

reading that paragraph, i bet it won't make much sense to some... ok many. But it makes perfect sense to me dangit /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

i got them at 4WP. As I understand it, the 3000's and 9000's are made by Rancho. I think it was something like 39036... but I just went to 4WP and told them I wanted the longest travel procomp 9000's they had. the 9000's are gas charged like the RSX and the 3000's are like the RS5000's.
