52" spring swap questions - now crossover Q's

Very nice. That's alot like how I wanted to build mine. Did you do any upright supports or mounts? What about the rollers? How did those mount?

The rollers?
Are you talking about the winch fairlead?

If so I made the front bumper out of 1/4 wall box tubing, cut a wedge out of the back to bend it to match the grill, welded that up, then cut 2 rectangles out of the front and back for the cable, and bolted the fairlead to the front. I have seen another 1st gen truck with the fairlead on the factory bumper but he had it through bolted to some brackets he made up behind the bumper.

Basically I wouldn't trust the factory bumper mounts to hold up to any off angle pulls without reinforcement behind it.

I know, I was going to do some sort of mount so it just sticks through. Not putting any pressure on the bumper. Because the stock bumper isnt the strongest but I like the factory look. Regardless of the fact that I made the rear bumper out of 4"x8" 1/4 thick tubing and put 25 ton clevises on it :thumb:. But it looks clean and the clevises were free.

Ha! That's funny! I have a 1/4 front bumper and stock rear bumper!
I have a serious hitch on it, so I just use that. Had to pull this beast out a few years ago. Man, old pic! Back when it mostly stock except the motor.
