52's the old fashion way

With the old fashion way, is there any change in wheelbase? It will probably get measured in registration inspection, and it should be as it was from factory.

You can keep the axle in the original location (or close to it) with Kert's B52 setup, but you will definitely need to move the rear mount back.

Yeah the B-52 set up using the rear most hole and moved shackle mount along with a 0-rate will get you back to factory I believe. May have to tune it with the B-52.

Thats crazy they measure your wheelbase for inspection:eek1:

Going from a 48" spring to a 52" spring. Let's assume we want to keep the axle in the factory location.

So if you moved the spring mount point 2" forward, half of that spring length change would be taken care of. Axle still in the same location. Now we have to deal with the other 2" of spring length on the back side of the shackle. If you simply attach a long enough shackle you'll probably have to much shackle angle. So, you can move the shackle hanger back say 1" and allow corrective shackle angle to grab the last inch.

Much simpler would be to move the axle forward that one more inch and leave the factory eye hanger where it is.

Not sure if that helps clear any of this up or not. Our prototype rig gained approx. .5" of wheel base, had good shackle angle and did not have the spring eye hanger relocated.

I decided to leave coilsprung front end on my Suburban project to rest for a while, I just don't have time to build it. But I really, really want to go offroading with it. And since I allready have a Blazer frame next to a Suburban, I can take front spring hangers and rear springs from it.

I can lift vehicle total of 6" (including tires), change track width total of 5.5" (4" w/axles and 1.5" w/wheels), but I can't change wheelbase at all. That sucks.
