52's up front

Wes,

Heres b-52's with old 2" Lift 52's overload removed. Front eye under body mount and a 6" shackle. Axel is almost in the stock location. I've since moved it to teh forward hole.

And this is pretty much how it looks.

And thats without drilling a new big hole in the frame on the shackle end?

This is exactly what I'm gonna do now. 52's up front.

Now, the plans for the rear are to use 56's and all DIY parts, too. I already have the forward hangers. Just need to get the flip n switch along with longer shackles. I plan to turn the 56's around to gain the extra 4" wheelbase.

just make sure your not as we todd ed as me, and check to see what size bushings you need for your 56's before you have your truck in pieces on a sat in the warehouse with your boss asking "this is going to be cleaned up before monday right??" I ended up needing the 1.75" bushings for one end.........and only had 1.5" bushings. so i sleeved them with some 1.75" HREW. Still in there, but i can't say irecommend it.

How much are those new rear spring, front hangers and can they be made for 1/2 & 3/4 ton width perches?

:D :ears: :D

Those were kinda of a product research kinda thing.

They can be made for those perch widths. they are pretty massively heavy. Problem with the blazer mount is you might end up with more height. Take a look at your blazer and check how close the eye bolt is to teh bottom of the frame.

I'm running 8" lift 52's up front and i drilled a new hole in the frame to relocate the shackle, also i'm running the b52's in the forward most position, and the springs in the third hole to the front. This is what my shackle looks like. I plan on moving it back to the original hole and filling the one i cut. I didnt read the whole thread but i thought i would give you a pic for reference. hope it helps. oh ya the shackles are 7.25 eye-eye

Ok now I'm confused. Why don't you want to move the front axle forward? It's going to make your front driveshaft happier and give you a better approach angle.

Did you read several of my repeated quotes "I don't want to drill a new hole in the frame on the shackle end"? :wink1:

I don't want to move the D60 forward either. Which hole in the A-Bomb do you use to keep the axle center as in stock position?

I had Kert make the Abomb with the B52 part in its forward position. I painted it the other day and cleaned up my springs. This weekend I'm going to move the rear hanger forward up the frame and see where things end up. Should have everything done sometime this weekend and I'll post up in my build thread.

Check out the Abomb pics in my build thead. Kert said a couple others have ordered abombs after I posted up the pics but Im not sure who or if they have them yet.

Dang... I definitely don't want anymore lift. If you come up with a stock height design let me know.

:doah: yea I guess I missed that. But why don't you want to drill a new hole? It's not that hard and if you are worried about it becoming weaker, you can take the piece that gets cut out and it will be a perfect fit to weld shut the original hole. That is if you are upgrading to the diy larger front shackle hanger.

I am also thinking of changing to 52's up front, and am reluctant to move my rear shackle as well. Are any of you who moved your axle using the sway bar? I want to keep mine street friendly and keep the sway bar, and disconnect it for trail use. It seems to me it would be dificult to use the sway bar if your axle is moved.

Moving the swaybar mounts on the frame would be easy if you ended up moving the front axle enough. But IMO if you're gonna street drive it a lot 52's might not be worth the hassle.

Using a factory sway bar would prevent installing crossover steering which is best for a 52" spring set up. OE style push/pull steering cannot keep up with the flex allowed by the longer springs. At heavy droop the drag link loses the ability to actually push or pull the steering arm because it's too far towards vertical.

You might consider and aftermarket sway bar and 52's.

hmm im looking for another 1-2" of lift in the rear because my stock 64's are so soft in the back, and the rear sits lower now anyways. any idea how much lift it would net? how much would those hangers cost? thanks kert:D
