54 inch rear springs in place of 56s

I bought a set of 54 6 inch springs and didnt relize they were 54 I needed 56s . Can I just move the rear spring hangers forword 2 inches or am I just screwed? Im not a pro at this and not a rookie just had a brain dead moment and didnt have a tape measure. Thanks Daric

How about one better if I take the 54s and cut the eyelet off both ends and put my main leaf (56)on top of the 54 spring pack? Will it work has anyone tried anything like this?

Where did you get these springs, what vehicle were they meant for and how did you measure them?

Came from a 3/4 chev. Measured them from pin out on both sides 26 in front 28 in back.

Measure bolt hole to bolt hole. Should be around 52". If not they arn't Chevy.

wth dude. Your all over the place. 48" are fronts. 56 or 52" are rears. Which are you talkin about?

54" springs are from a Ford if I recall correctly...

Make sure that when you take your measurements that you run the tape so it matches the contour of the spring, and measure from the center of each of the eyelets.

Most Chevy trucks have a 52 or 56" rear spring, but if you did wind up with 54s, just make sure that your axle is centered correctly (and that the widths match) and move the hangers as required.

springs should be measured along the surface of the longest leaf to the eyelet from the centering pin.

If you measure from eye to eye that dimesion can change with the arch of the spring

My measurements are all over the place because of this ? I have remeasured both front and rear. As follows Rears from center pin to center of eyelet, 26 foward/28 rearward, Fronts 24.5/24.5

I think ford used 54s and 57s in the rear... Like we use 52s and 56s...

Also, I believe fords have two rivets holding the pads, where chevy has one rivet...
