56" rear spring eye size

I picked up a set of 56" springs from the junkyard, I measured the spring eyes and they both measured 1 3/4" on both sides. Everything I read says that it should either be 1.5" on both sides or 1.5" and 1 3/4". I measured the outer steel sleeve, was this incorrect?

there are some oddball sizes out there
it can also be a metric size
I ran into this very same problem. I ended up with a measurement of ~1.7". I've also come across leafs that don't necessarily follow the "1.5/ 1.75" rule. IIRC my metric size ones were the same front to back
