6.0 LS engine, who tows with one.

My DD is an 07 3500HD, with a 6.0 and the Allison. I wouldn't buy another one like it. I only have it because I couldn't say no for the price. It's going up for sale shortly...

You have a unicorn because Allison’s do not come behind 6.0L in any GM trucks . Workhorse (my company) and Freightliner (our competitor) offer the Allison 1000 and 2200 behind a GM Powertrain L96 6.0L in commercial stripped chassis found under UPS and bakery type trucks but GM doesn’t. 2007 was a transition year for GM HD trucks where some got 4L80E transmissions while the later ones got the new 6L90. You're probably thinking it is an Allison because you may have the 6 speed auto, which is a 6L90 GM Hydramatic. That is a great trans too though :waytogo: but it is no Allison. Allison’s only came behind 8.1L and Dirtymax engines in GM trucks.

GM Powertrain link of what was mated to what in 2007. Fun site to poke around.

Oh yea, I keep meaning to mention, a million years ago when supersize75k5 got his duramax, I asked for his thoughts on towing the the 6.0 vs dmax. Pretty much what he had to say is as long as your not in a hurry, the 6.0 will get the job done.

Indeed! It would be fun, but too much fun in the 77. i would have to run 20" wide slickes to plant that power in the little 77!

Fraid this one aint goin nowhere! Im attached to it now!

I was talking about the K25 Is the 2wd a gmc as well?

No sir. Specs in my Sig. It's just a fun thought to imagine something with so much power in the 77 A's it is a 1/2 ton 2wd. And therefore quite light compared to the 78 3/4 ton 4x4.

You'd have to put sand bags in the back of the 77 just to get it to hook up. LOL!

I was also speaking if the 78 tho. Sure would look nice in there.

I know. I knew what you guys were talking about. But truthfully, i have visions of the smartest swap for that thing being a stock 6bt! I think that would be the best fit for that truck. But first i gotta get a shop, get the body fixed up, and then i can do the motor swap! Yall know me and my "plans", but my current plan is to pull the motor out of the 77, do a mexican rebuild(hone, new rings and bearings, re assemble) on it and put it into the 78. Then stick a 5.3/4l60e combo in the 77. Then, when the time is right stick the 6bt in the 78. But you know me... That idea will probably last until the end of the night if that...

Wouldnt it be fun tho?!? The other thing is i wonder just what kind of mpg i could get out of an 8.1/4l80e combo in there. I bet i could get a consitent 18mpg out of it.

So I traded my gas dodge version NV4500 and 36" kingpin ford 60 for a LQ9, decided that I won't need this truck to tow and 8.1's were pretty much impossible to find down there.

when I do get to doing the swap I will probably do a cam swap and possibly a supercharger . that will depend on if I can run pump gas our not the LQ9 is already 10-1

Iron with aluminum heads Im 95% sure. Only ones that are aluminum are ones in the cars. I could be wrong, but Im thinking that in this particular thing, im not.
