1/2 ton status
i just think the stock tuning GM does kills the power in their motor's
Read my previous post about "Torque Management". The 1/2 tons have EVEN MORE "Torque Management" going on. Because they still have 4l60Es(65s now I think). The poor things are at the mercy of the 6.0L so Chevy dials back the power on it.ARAMP1 said:I am impressed you got it to spin the tires. The half ton I drove would definitely NOT do that. I really had always looked at the 6.0 as a compromise and you've opened up my eyes a bit. I'd never own one, but at least I have a bit more knowelege and respect for the little guy. Very cool.
EDIT: And, it got me thinking too...a VERY long time ago, I drove a 8.1L crew cab, 4wd, dually and wasn't really impressed either. It might have been around 02. Did the one you did for you're buddy wake up a bit too?

Only dyno sheet I found quickly:

Head over to corvettefever.com and spend some time searching, you might find a *Corvette* 6L dyno sheet.
Totally indicative of what GM (at least) is doing with their engines. Approx. 100 ft lb difference in a 5500RPM range!

ARAMP1 said:I think it's great looking, but I've driven a new half ton chevy with a 6.0 and it couldn't get itself out of a wet paper bag. Are you doing anything to the engine (cam, exhaust, etc.)? My point is that I really don't see the hassle with the 6.0. The mileage isn't better, is it? Wouldn't a nice 350 be easier, make more power and cost the same money (or even less)?

I'd be Interested in an 8.1 swap I'd like to put it in front of my NV4500/241 combo In my Stepside or my Brown K20Ryan B. said:Nice!
