6.2 diesel first start in 4 years... Electrical problems please help post 27

I gave up guys. The booster didn't have enough jam. All I would get when turning the key was clicks and then nothing. I don't think the booster was getting enough power d/t it being plugged into 2 ext cords to reach the truck 100 feet away.

So I'm going to have a bobcat pull it out at a later date. Was a bit disappointing, but what do you expect when an old piece of junk has been sitting for 4 years :doah:

I am sure you didn't look at your grounds.
It's a simple cure, that is your problem, just get the batteries charged right and have the cable ends checked well, and tight and it should work fine.
But it's your truck...:dunno:

It'll only take a few minutes.

The thing that gets me is that even after it was grounded with the jumper cables, I only had about 5 secs to turn it over and then it was dead. this makes me think there is a short somewhere that is draining the batteries fast? :dunno:

I'll give it a shot though. Just the cable ends on the battery or should I do both ends?

The fact the jumper cables you used got so hot quick meant the contact on the original cables is bad so check both sides of the cable.
and jumper cables never get a good contact that is why they get hot and then the contact gets worse and you can't use them.
Believe me get a good contact with good cables and you can crank for 10 minutes.
