So I aquired a 79 C25 GMC 3+3 and it has a 6.2 that was transplanted.
My question is the engine is a redish orange color. I never seen a 6.2 that wasnt black or blue and it looks to be original paint. Was this an original color? This is my 3rd 6.2 my first was an 86 k5 with a blue engine, and i have a 84 K20 with a black engine. Im assuming diff colors designate differnt versions?
The funny part is the 86 blue 6.2 and now this mystery year red/orange 6.2 are the only 2 i have ever seen that wasnt black. Most every other 6.2 i have seen in other peoples rides are black. Also this red/orange one has MORE power than my previous 2. but I know the 86 K5 had well over 250k on the ticker and the 83 has right at 200k. And this red one i have no idea the milage. Any other info on 6.2's is certainly welcome. By all means tell me tips and tricks for reliable power, and longevity.

Thanx in advance

Yeah 82 was the only year for red.
It has a higher nickel content in the block.
It has different thread size on the injectors so it it won't interchange with others.
Other than that, it's a 6.2 l
:D
