6.2 to BBC swap

Get a turbo for the 6.2, you'll never again talk about going to a gas motor. I've done the diesel-gas swap, poor move on my part because all I gained was a higher fuel bill.

Truth. A turbo makes all the difference in the world. I come by them, every season I get two or three to sell on motors I get in. I have a banks sidewinder kit that I will be putting up for sale soon.

This truck has no special purpose or anything, basically it is just something to drive that I bought for really cheap. I rode in this truck when I was around 7-10 years old and it was still in its prime.

I've got a 01 Dodge with a 24v Cummins that will be on tow pig duty, GMC woods beater, and a 86/74 GMC restoration project.

With that said I will most likely leave it as it is and enjoy the strange looks people give when they hear it running. Not many diesel squares around here and the ones that had a diesel motor have been swapped for a gas motor.

I have thought about putting a turbo on it but I'd like to keep the use of the AC and cant afford the Banks kit.

I see a 454 on craigslist advertised nearby for $350,ad says it was purchased as a "good running engine" the seller planned to put in an older Camaro, but his plans changed (probably wants an LS ?)---I am pretty tempted to go check it out,but I balk at buying any engine I cant hear run,or better yet, drive the vehicle its in...

I would have to invest at least that in my pickup's 6.2 probably sooner or later, and I'd rather have a gas engine--to hell with "gas mileage"..
I bet I'd lose only 6 mpg,and I dont go far away too often..

Around here folks want an arm and a leg for big blocks. No matter the condition. It's really disheartening as folks are asking 12-1500.00 for anything big block.

That is the usual price for any BBC around here too lately--few if any ever pop up for less than 500 bucks, and those would need a complete re-build probably..the pre 1980 style BBC are getting scarce here..

I wonder if anyone ever put a 6-71 blower on a 6.2...bet it would run like a top fuel dragster--for a mile or so anyway..(before the crank spits out!)..:D.
