6.2 What's it good for? Just about everything.

Haha, whoops. I bet my injector kit came with a new gasket, and I didn't see it. Well, I have a new task.

Alright this might be a dumb question but how do you know when the governor kicks in? Mine revs pretty high and seems to like it vs lugging it.

This question is pretty vague, so I'm not sure what you're asking. The governor on a 6.2 will both maintain an idle and become a rev limiter if you take the speed up high enough. How do you know when you've hit the limiter? Umm...I think it's when the engine refuses to go any faster. :pimp: :haha:

The limiter is supposed to be set to 3600RPM on these rigs. But the sound gets nasty enough up there that I don't think I've ever tried to hit it. Me no likey. How fast do you think you're spinning?

Post up tire size & axle ratio and I'll give you gearing chart.

Or you could simply get a tachometer like the new rigs have. :haha:

Also with a manual Trans what turbo seems to still provide the mid and upper power without being super laggy? I am getting the feeling the engine does better work when revving vs keeping the rpm lower.

Higher speed does produce more power, if that's what you mean. But that's hardly specific to this engine type. :dunno:

It sounds like it is into the 3k range and revving pretty good but it doesn't sound bad, the intake resonates before this rpm and I go a smidge past and grab a gear and it lands in a better spot allowing me to accelerate better into traffic. I have an 465/3.73 31 inch tires

Doah. I spit out the screen capture and found two earlier captures from 6 weeks ago (33" and 35" tires). :doah: :doah:

I need to stop forgetting about the things that I do.

Dropping in to say that a 6.2 sure sounds good tach'd out in a sand wash. Heck I kinda think it sounds like a dmax! Also fixing that return line on the injector has made her much more consistent when idling and starting. Sure glad I caught that. Kinda bummed because it was that special hose the Internet raves about. Didn't even make it six months.

I actually don't know what I'm gonna do for exhaust. I like the diesel sound but I'd also like to hear it on the highway some.. Which I cannot right now. But I do not put up with drone.. No way!

Glasspacks?

I can't believe I just said that. :doah: But they do work. Drone at a given speed is a function of the exhaust geometry. Changing the length of the pipe sections can change that a bunch. @muddysub added a resonating chamber to his exhaust to give it a quiet spot at highway cruising speed. :thumb:
