6.2 What's it good for? Just about everything.

Still love it! Changed the oil and air filter. This air filter is larger somehow?? But it's quieted the engine down some or changed the resonance, and the new oil always makes the engine way quieter, I wonder if this bent oil pan is causing it to raise the level enough to burn off some of the oil. I only had to add maybe a quart or less in 3-4K miles..

Bent oil pan?

Well, since my truck was only running a down pipe off the turbo, I haven't heard the clackitty clack of the 6.5 for months now. But my package is arriving tomorrow to help with the exhaust noise.

My whole fleet of 6.2/6.5's is straight piped , except the little red 83

Finished my exhaust last night. I can finally hear myself think, and I can hear my truck think lol. I've missed that clattery noise. It's soothing.

So here is something odd that happened. Let me explain.

So while waiting for exhaust to get here, I was driving the truck with JUST a down pipe. Yes noisey, but tolerable. I thought I was having PMD issues due to the CEL coming on, as well as loss of power. After putting the exhaust on last night, the CEL went off and the truck is driving great now with normal power. Are these things related? Or just coincidental? I know some engines require back pressure, but I wasn't sure about these ones.

So just a coincident that I was having issues? I still have a new PMD, I just need the relocation kit.

But wouldn't the waste gate controller adjust itself accordingly? .

no, and by overboost it's just a quick spike before the wastegate pops it's enough to throw a code , and possibly throw into limp mode .

I don't mess with electronic 6.5's a whole lot , but changing the exhaust on any turbo 6.2/6.5 can vastly change the spool rate . smokey and pattys blue burn are both identical motors, same pump , same injectors , same turbos . The only difference between them is exhaust size the Smokey has the "stock" banks exhaust with no muffler

Pattys burb has a custom built 4" straight

Smokey will hit 15 psi where as the Burb will do nearly 20 psi
