6.2L active fuel management and lifer/cam failures.

If it's similar to the Gen 4 engines, it can be done but it's a pain in the ass. The little screen is in a hole right below the oil pressure sending unit.

If you have skinny arms and small hands one can reach back there and pull the sensor. Then reach in with a pick and pull the screen out.

Nine times out of ten we will get a complaint of low/no oil pressure value on the cluster when that screen is plugged. Engine has oil and is not rattling, just zero oil pressure on the gauge. We run a confirmation with a mechanical gauge hooked in above the oil filter and it checks out fine. Pulled the sensor and found a clogged screen. These are normally same people that went way too long between every oil change to. See the pattern developing?

So in general it's not a normal service item change at a specified interval?

I just watch the video and saw the screen/filter. It doesn't look like something that is normally serviced. Looks like something that needs cleaning because of poor maintenance and sludge build up in the screen.

Just went back and rechecked. No valve lifter oil manifold filter on the Gen 5 (DI) like on the Gen 4 (non-DI).

Nope. Keep the oil clean, it stays clean. But I'm not seeing it on a gen 5 DI engine. At least it's not in the same spot. Looked throught the service manual and parts catalog and nothing listed for that filter.

Yeah, the more reading I do on the subject it seems to be pretty clear what the major issue is with AFM lifter failure and some pretty proven ways to avoid it.

Use high quality full synthetic dexos1 gen2 oils. I'm going to go with Mobile 1 Anal Protection 0-20w.
Use high quality oil filter. On this I'm going to go with either AC Delco, or Purolator Pure One.
Do NOT use the on board oil life manager. I'll reset it when it starts to beep, if it does beep or something.
Change oil some where between 3 and 5k. With the anal protection I figure 5k will be the mark, but will shoot for 3.5k changes.

If you're really worried toss in the Range AFM disabler. I think with proper care and maintenance you can do without the device.

Well, I feel better about the 6.2L now. Thanks for all the input and advice.

Good work. I'm just curious where you guys are getting the anal protection oil from. :haha::haha::haha:

Off topic, but first mod done.

This Tahoe has the rear bucket seats and no center console. My daughter had no where to put stuff so that had to be fixed!

Picked up a 2016 Tahoe front jump seat/ console. It is the same color interior as the Tahoe so it matches pretty well. Only had to make two small cuts in the carpet and make a couple of mounts for it. Now she has an arm rest, drink holder, and a place to store the headset and remote for the blue ray player.

How do you get to the 3rd row?

It is hinged at the front and folds forward. Or the two side seats fold forward as well. But, to be honest, the rear seats are always down and no one will ever ride back there.

I do need to find the wiring diagram for the connector that runs to this seat I can wire the 12v and USBs in it.

This video has a cutaway of the rear of L86; doesn't seem to have the same oil pressure switch and filter boss.
