Hey guys, I just picked up an '82 K5 with the 6.2 diesel and want to do a turbo setup from a 6.5. I think I have most of the information I need, except what I have to do to fit it to my intake manifold. I know the 6.2 and 6.5 are a bit different, but will it work anyways, or do I have to modify it, or do I have to do something else entirely?

The 6.5 intake is a direct bolt on. If you use your intake, you'll need to fab a hat or find a Banks turbo hat.

Your '82 will have course threaded injectors, so you cannot use the short 6.5 injectors. You will have to space the passenger side 6.5 manifold to clear your long injectors. '82 was the only that had the course injectors, so that's something you'll need to keep in mind. Its still no big though.

I haven't held a 6.5 hat but I have seen pics, and I can tell you the 6.5 intake is different but you probably can figure out an adapter to match the hat to your 6.2 litre intake, or you can just get a 6.5 intake, the blocks are the same so you can bolt the 6.5 intake to your 6.2

Yeah, it would pretty much be pointless to try to put the 6.5 hat on a 6.2 intake. I'd go with complete 6.5 intake, or something else.

Here's a pics of Banks, and a pic of a custom hat I made for my '67 C-30. I cut the base off a stock 6.2 intake and welded to the inlet of a 1970 Porsche oil bath air cleaner. It had the correct 2.5" connection on it, and it looked cool, so I fabbed it up. It even had a nipple that I welded in a threaded insert and installed my boost guage there.
