I am replacing the mechanical lift pump on my 6.2l diesel with an electric pump from a 6.5. Now this seems like a dumb question, but which size and style of fitting is used on these pumps? I went to Napa and Autozone, and neither had a solution for a barb or hose fitting. Any help is appreciated.

I used this pump, from a 1988 GMT400 with a 6.2 engine.

It's a different part number from a 1993 6.5 engine.

But both of them look like they use the same fittings. I brought the pump down to my local hardware store and bought standard flare fitting adapters from the plumbing section. Easy peasy.

Sounds good, I have the 1993 6.5l pump and I am using strait thread fittings now and with teflon it is still sucking air. Ill look for some flare fittings.
