6+8 Divided By 2240 lbs = HOLD ON

This is why I can't take Death Trap to Bandimere. 13.49 should be easy with a BBC and a good launch. No space for a roll bar unless I do one coming behind the tub coming out of the bed. Then its going to look like ass.

As for going 9's, yes they require an NHRA license. I was in the process for getting that but ended up selling the car before I got it and could not finish the test passes required. I got kicked out many times, sometimes during racing events. I would usually dominate the stick shift class and won street car take over one year. I only had an 8 point and not a full cage along with other safety items like a chute that are not cheap to implement. 9 seconds in a street car is a difficult and expensive situation. My 155mph trap speed doesn't help either. Tuesday nights (slicks only) T&T was always fun since you had more heavy hitters there and it would do well get against the others.

These pics are older, all of the red accents have been changed to black and the rollbar/hoop would not fit with the soft top so it was removed also. I have gotten a quote of $1800.00 for an 8 point cage. It seems to me there is not a lot of real estate to fit an 8 point and I have to check out the rule book to find out exactly what is going to be needed to pass tech inspection. While I definitely want to run this down the track it still has to be somewhat user friendly for the street also.

is that a handbrake or a drift brake beside the shifter?
Kind of a weird setup actually, it is a line lock for the front wheels and it will stay activated without holding it, but you can release it gradually and use it as a like feathering brake or all at once.. There is no mechanical pawl that holds it. All hydraulic. That's how the po explained it to me. I have yet to try it.

Why would you need a lone lock on that car? Bip the throttle and the tires should roast.
As it was explained to me when this car had rear coils and Mickey Thompsons he enjoyed doing really smokey burnouts. After it was converted to coilovers and the sticky Hoosiers it launched so well the adrenaline rush he got from the G-forces made the smokey burnouts less enjoyable.

Roll Bars : Unless otherwise required by your class, 6 point roll bars are required on convertibles running quicker than 13.49. Roll Bar required on all cars (including T-tops) running quicker than 11.49.

Roll Cages : Roll Cages required on convertibles running 10.99 or faster than 135mph. Roll Cages required on all cars running 10.99* or faster than 135mph. 

*One exception: full-bodied cars running between 10.00 and 10.99, with unaltered firewalls, floor and body (from firewall rearward - wheel tubes permitted) can compete with just a roll bar.

Nice rides guy's !!! :waytogo:

Gives me some inspiration!!! I gotta get back out there and finish up the LUV.... times a wastin' ... :surepal::surepal:
Just have some small stuff to finish up,,,drop in the new ignition setup, fresh oil, fill the radiator... that's about it.

Once I get it fired back up and break the cam in,
I plan on converting the front end to coilovers and ditching the torsion bars...it's a pretty simple deal really,, then fab up a quick transmission crossmember to make pulling the trans simple.

Right now removing the trans requires pulling the engine due to the torsion bar mount welded into the truck from the factory... :doah:

Will probably do a welded in cage at some point, there are several companies out there that make kits...they look fairly easy to install on these little trucks...

Until today the only time I really drove this was with the previous owner/seller with me. I finally got some seat time today and these
Looks like a handful

That should be fun, and a handful.
might be the biggest understatements of 2020.
This thing is a beast.
I have driven fast cars and lightweight cars. I have driven fast lightweight cars. I have never driven something like this thing. Although it has a funny accent and absolutely no sense of humor, it tells you... no it screams at you, how it wants to be driven.
Wanna downshift into second going about 30?? THATS A NO FROM ME DOG
Wanna downshift into first going about 20?? It did the equivalent of grabbing me by the collar, lifting me off of the ground and staring into my eyes and saying "Don't ever do that again"
Don't get me wrong the transmission works great but I guess the combination of light weight, huge tires and perhaps not enough engine speed had the tires locking up. I'm hoping to get more info on the trans build from the po. It shifts great if you leave it in drive and if you manually shift it, it holds the gear you are in until you shift it. Driving it in drive and letting the transmission do it's thing makes for a drive similar to finally getting a date with Megan Fox and taking her to your grandmothers for bridge night, fun, but not what it was built for! Shifting it manually {is that a word?} and keeping it in its powerband and you and Megan are having A LOT of fun.
I gotta go to the store and buy some diapers now as I plan on going for another drive tomorrow.
