im officialy abandaning the tuff country 6 inch lift kit in my 90 k5.i think im gunna do a 4 inch shackle flip and possible a 2 inch re arch, unless there is a better way to get the rear up 6 inches. then comes the front, after the disaster with tuff country id rather not purchase springs. if its gunna ride like sh!t id rather it be my fault.so any suggestions are welcome

4" shackle flip and a 1" zero rate for the rear. Then go get some 6" BDS springs or some soft rides for the front.

If you want to spend the money you can do 52s up front. Of course that has other costs involved. But it will give you the best ride

after an extensive conversation with Stephen at ord i am now going with their 6 inch lift kit. from what i understand ill be getting new 64 inch springs for the rear and new springs up front plus some misc stuff. anybody out there running this setup or seen this setup in action? like to hear some reviews b4 committing to spending the money

i have a feeling your going to love the new setup! the 64s will ride nice out back. are you going with 52s up front or regular springs?

the front springs i belive are stock length but are built to their specs as far as for the 64's there supposed to send specs on the hanger and shackle relocation

I have 56 fronts and 64 rears rides like a Caddy and flexes like a slinky, love the set up wouldn't change it. The only thing that I would change it for would be coil overs only because my approach and departure angles would get better.

how involved was the install of 56 s up front

For the 56's I just flipped the front mounts side to side like the driver to the passengers and put longer rear shackels. You have to do a crossover also, and they are three different ways to do the 56's. Most 56's come with a 30/26 spring center so depending on how you mount it it moves your axle 2 to 4 inches front or back, most move it forwards not sure why anyone would want to move it back .

I happened to find a set of 28/28, not on purpose, that left the axle in the factory spot.

Either way you have to do a crossover in order to steer.

so i called in to ord to find out about my order that i placed on the 5th. i was advised that they still had no info on my springs. i know i was told a month but a month has now passed. anyone else out there have issues with ord?

They are top notch. Good quality, good service, and they are a family run business that is into wheeling. Doesn't get much better than that. If you have an issue, talk to them about it. I'm sure they will work it out with you.

I think I've heard you talk about how bad the ride is. Is it REALLY bad, or just too rough for you.

Maybe ride like a 1 ton or what?

That sucks. Did you talk to Stephen? I would leave a message for him to call you back on the issue.

On a side note I am in Fallon for the next three weeks. I should have some free time to take a look at what you got. Maybe go for a ride so I can see how rough it is. I have a Superlift HD 6" kit on my crew and its pretty stiff, but they are HD springs for a 1 ton. :wink1:
