Can use some help...I've been looking/searching for a couple of days and I can't find the thread.

What years did the floor design change on the Blazer?

I have a 79 and I thought the floor by the back seat changed in 80 or 81. Anyone know or have a link to the thread?

I have a line on a bolt in 6 point roll cage from an 81 that a guy wants to sell for $50.00. He tells me that it has been sitting outside and has a "A lot of surface rust."

I don't know when the floor changed, but if for some reason you don't snap this up, give me the guy's number!! I'll MAKE my floor fit! :D

Im pretty sure he floor changed between the 75 and 76 years. In 75 you had a full top convert, the floor rose to the bed area right benind the drivers and passenger seats. In 76 yoiu had a half top and I believe the floor didnt rise until the actual bench seat in back. If some one with a 76 will chime in to confirm.

Actually I think the floor change wasn't based on the full top to half top switch, it was based on the back seat type. The floor changed when they went to a fold-forward back seat. I think it was the same time that they also moved the body mounts to the outside of the frame, which may have been related. What I don't know is exactly what year this happened. My '79 had a folding seat, so I think it was pre-79.

In any case, (to the Original Post...) I think that your 79 probably has the same floor as all the 80's models so that cage should fit... :)

...and if it almost fits or it's too rusty for you, pm me! ;)

Thanks for the help with this. I took a look at the roll - cage and passed.

It was 1.5" tube that was put together for the rear half of the truck. B pillar to wheel well and back to the back corners.

There was no bracing across the top. It looked like the guy that built it didn't have long enough tubes. The left side upper tube and rear upper (roof line) tube had welds extending the tub to the corner. In other words they were welded butt joints in the middle of each tube.

I wouldn't hang my spare axles on this thing, let alone put it my truck and depend on it saving me.

x2.

73-75 full top, non-folding back seat
76-78 half top, non-folding seat
79-91? half top, folding rear seat

floor pan depends on rear-seat. non-folding is all bed high behind the front seats. folding rear seats have lower flloor boardto behind the rear seats

78 was actually the first year of folding not the last year of non folding.
Although I have seen a couple of 78 with a non folding but if you look at the build date it's late 77.
