6" ram or 8" ram on 10 bolt?

The reason I mentioned that is from my observations at the JY. The 30 spline 10 bolts come with 8 lug set up.

The only thing I didn't measure was if the 8 lug steering arm may be shaped different allowing it to have a longer steering stroke.

You converted to 8 lug on a 10 bolt. What is your steering stroke?

Whip it out & measure it...

30-spline shafts are not related to 8 lugs. 30-spline shafts in front 10-bolts came around for about the '89-'91 model years in 'Burbs and K5's, possibly some '88s also. Since all K5's were 6-lug and a lot of 'Burbs were also 6-lug I would guess there are more 6-lug 30-spline 10-bolts out there as compared to 8-lugs. To my knowledge pickups never had 30-spline front shafts in 10-bolts since the last year of a solid axle pickup was '87.

Probably been at least 10 years ago but I remember at that time many people on here didn't even know that a front 30-spline 10-bolt existed, including Stephen from ORD. I had a '90 K5 and was looking for replacement front shafts and had to post pictures including a comparison to a D44 shaft (which is NOT the same).

There is no difference in steering between a 6-lug and 8-lug 10-bolt as the knuckles and steering arms, etc... are all the same. All you need to do is swap the wheel hubs and caliper mounts between them and these have no affect on the steering.
