First time doing a build thread. I hope I can keep it up in a timely manner.

Just bought a 62 Scout that it's sitting on an 86 K5 chassis. The PO was in the middle of doing a swap to an automatic. He was parting it out, but I couldn't resist buying the whole thing.

How it sits now...
SB in truck and running :D
700R4 Transmission in boxes
Two NP208's (one Dodge, one Chevy)
No crossmember for transmission
Wiring nightmare (but most everything seems to work)
Front 10 bolt 8 lug with TrueTrac and chrome molly shafts
RockRam steering
Rear Dana60 with disk brakes and posi.

More to follow...

Alright! I love the scouts! A Scout K5 is a great combination. Sub'd!

Old Scouts rock!

Is that rust I see on those CO. springs?

Oh...that looks just like rust in MI....

Very cool :waytogo: I like anything "off the beaten path" as far as builds go :waytogo: . The wide stance reminds me of the Willys wagon I'm doing for my dad as a retirement present !

Ive been wondering how long it would be before someone built a scout here. Seems like most chevy lovers I know have a soft spot for the ih's too.

Ive got 4 scouts that Ive been debating on building. It would take all 4 to make one good one and Ive got way to many other things going right now.

What are the specs on your 63 scout 80 if you dont mind?

It has the 152 slant 4, Dana 27s f/r (don't know the gears), 3sp, Spicer 18 t-case. It was another basket case I bought that had no driver side floor, rotted seat, and spring over with bad steering geometry.

When I get the Frankenscout going, I was thinking of trading it for some taller tires.

Not much of an update (been working and messing with the AC on the burban). Been slowly working on the 700R4 and putting it back together. I did score on some tires and rims.

Five 37x12.5x17 for $500 :D
Four with rims :beer::beer:
