Your car is still one of my favorite Corvettes out there, simply because it isn't a trailer queen. You actually drive it and have fun with it, and that to me is the point of having an old car. Thanks for the great throwback pics, and for sharing your car with us.
Thanks for the comps guys, I know CK5'ers can appreciate projects like this...having a nut and bolt restification lets you know the car pretty well....with the work everyone here does with their trucks, I'm pretty sure you know what it takes to go to this level of work....In some ways I'm glad its not an original car, It makes me feel less guilty about driving it. The hardest part was letting it sit for so long as I went through 2 divorces and 4 different moves with it...It got back burner status quite often.
It is pretty gratifying to get the thumbs up and the stares as you drive by, from little kids to old car nuts its a hit!
I drive it about a dozen times a year probably, mostly on the primo days of sunshine and 70*...it does get pretty hot inside with the sidepipes right outside the door and black interior, but the cool factor makes it livable.
I got caught in the rain with it on the hotrod powertour a couple years ago, man it was trashed after that run to Detroit and back. Spent a lot of time cleaning it up again.
my granddaughter and I took it out for Easter Sunday, she got a pretty good kick out of people looking at it (she said to me "why does everyone keep staring?") she'll get it someday!

I fully agree. It's so rare to see the mid year and earlier vettes out being driven, let alone the drag strip. Just awesome.
Maybe I missed it, but why do they call these "mid year vettes"? Is it because they were built in the middle of the 60's?
storing at a buddy's place this winter so I can utilize some shop space for some painting projects I got lined up....just did a final wash and wax for the winter....

This guy is a co-worker, and has a really nice storage garage....he rents out most of it in the winter months, and I've known a few guys that have kept cars at his place. Its pretty much packed full of cars, then locked up for the winter, nothing goes in or out except himself or the car owners!

cool 1953 video of the first of the 300 Vettes being built in Flint, in 1954 the St Louis Corvette plant opened up and production went up to 3640. After watching this video I can understand why parts have to be massaged to fit these early cars.
