64 Vette….Rebuild 2.0

Of course. My Uncle/cousin runs the "OG Million" and my other uncle/cousins hit every big race they can. My cousin got down to 4 cars in one and runnered up in another million last year, or maybe it was the year before. I lose track. They just built an entire new dragster from scratch and he won a 10K race this past weekend on his second outing with it. They are building 6 of them I think most are sold already.

You going to race the Vette this weekend?

No, I‘m booked with finishing the bathroom project, some outdoor stuff, attending my daughters first dog event (she just got a job with United Kennel Club as all breeds sports national director) and hosting a family reunion this month.….not sure when I can get up there again to race, but plan on going to the half million race 1-2 days that week.

Oh, I thought you had the Vette on the trailer to go to the track.

Last weekend.
tomorrow they have private track rental, and saturday is points racing, next week will be hot, so F that!

I'm the same way, I can build the crap out of the car and truck, but my lights aren't consistent enough to compete with the big dogs, because when it gets hot I would rather be on the river skiing :pimp1: with the family than roasting in the helmet and fire suit at the track! :burnout: So I tend to go to the track in the spring and fall and not much in the summer heat.

Just sitting in the shop stall right now….needs a good cleaning, and put the sidepipes back on for some street use this summer. Hot weather sucks balls, so probably will wait for a cooler day to run again. That could be in a couple weeks or fall, who knows? I still want to make a pass or two and pull a couple plugs to see where fuel and timing are. My mph makes me think I’m pretty close though.
Til then, a pic for you all to ogle!

I think they're awesome cars..... But shouldn't have gotten the Corvette name in my opinion.
Should have been called some new name.

I've tried to look at em with an open mind, and sometimes when I squint at it just right I still think it's terrible. I understand the mid engine design has some serious benefits, but I don't like the way any of them look. I really don't like that GM drank the mid engine kool-aid with the C8.

The C8 is a value compared to the cars it competes against for sure.

But the styling is love it or hate it for most. Most of the c6 and c7 owners I spoke to at the dealership hated the c8. Various reasons but styling was top.

They are not for big people though. They do have room for tall folks but it’s tight for those with broad shoulders. Forget about it if they have the comp level seats. The side bolsters are so narrow I couldn’t sit all the way back in the seat.

With the right seat once I got in I could get comfy, but that sucker is lower to the ground than even the previous generation Z06. So it’s a pain to get out of.

Whorls I turn one down if given to me, no. Though if I had the money I don’t think I’d go out of my way to buy one. I think a c7 Z06 with the manual trans is more fun to drive.

I definitely like the beginning of the C7’s, the later ones with all the spoilers and aero effects not so much.
I like the performance of the C8. Hard to deny it will ultimately outperform the C7’s, but yeah its not the best of styling IMO either. Corvettes have always been the performance leader for Chevy, so expect no difference from this version. Evidently plenty of people think they’re great, because you gotta get in line for em.

gonna leave this here, really sums up how I feel. Chip does a much better job saying it and showing what could have been done.
