64 Vette….Rebuild 2.0

Hottest AARP member I've ever seen. Always loved your build and how you've cared for it while still thoroughly enjoying it.

From one Dave to another…..:burnout:

I appreciate your thoughts brothers. I hope to make more progress on the car this year. Weather permitting track time should happen mid May at the FAST race at US131.

Are you going to have the new stronger axles installed at that point Dave, or that is later?

No, I’ve been dragging ass on putting it on the lift and out of commissions for a while. I want to put a rollbar and better belts in it, but just having a hard time mentally with cutting through the body to weld to the frame. I should have done it over the winter, but it just kept getting pushed back. I’m going to put the 750 Brawler on it and see what happens. I’m hoping my 60’ will improve a bit. Then it will probably come apart for the stronger axles and offset trailing arms, and disc brakes, and then theres the Victor jr., Greg’s 3200 convertor, and bigger cooler, and better tires….you know how that snowball gets rolling.

Yeah, the go fast parts all make sense, but cutting through the body does sound scary on that car. How close are you to needing the roll bar, I thought that wasn't mandatory until 11.49 for your car? Before I had my roll bar I would make all my motor passes, high 11s back then. Then spray it one time at the end of the day, crank out a mid 10 second pass, and immediately get a warning I'd be done if I did it again. Of course it's never too early for safety if you are planning ahead.

Its more for my own peace of mind. The lapbelts are original and attached to the fiberglass floor, and with cables to the frame. I would feel better about having a 4 point bar in place for secure lap and shoulder harness’.

Got the car shined up today for a drive in car show. No judging just park and enjoy all the cars/trucks/motorcycles. I took my grandson w me and my daughter drove out w hubby and granddaughter. She brought dinner w her and then we had ice cream at the 50’s diner. Great night. Granddaughter took most of these pics.

FAST racing is cancelled for Friday, my last chance at a test and tune in decent weather, so I think Ill start getting the changes made to the car.

As you may have found out my son in law was killed by a Fed Ex driver.
thread is in the situation room.
everything is on hold project wise while I help my daughter and grandkids try to piece their life back together after their husband/father was ripped out of their life. The turmoil of his loss is overwhelming enough, but now all the legalities of property, vehicles, dearh certificates, lawyers, insurance, etc. that Justin did so my daughter didn't have to worry about it is becoming a major hurdle as well. I just ry to walk with her as much as I can.
Projects will pick up when life permits again.

You may not have time to do any projects currently but don’t forget the therapy that taking a cruise in an car like the vette can provide. Take the grandkids out individually and let them have the time to not think about everything and just be in that moment.

Don’t forget about your own well being too. That car can help.

Stay strong.

Time for a new convertor.
Thanks @Greg Ducato
Took the pan off, and only a very small amount of clutch material present. It’ll get a new filter and fluid and a front and rear seal. It’s shifting great so no reason to get into it further.
