Picked up dorman 45640, the shortest bolt fit the starter just fine with a couple washers.
Slid the starter in, it fit pretty tight. Seems to crank okay, might add a blanket to it. Seems to get a little warm from the quick test bag I went on.
picked up a shield on my way home from work today.
Got the snips out, it covers the majority of the starter and solenoid. Only high heat can of paint I had nearby was copper, so that’s what it got.
Got the shield on, went to start the car again. No crank/click or nothing. After some dicking around I bypassed the neutral safety and away she went. Guessing that was half the random no start issue.
Went for ice cream and picked up some Albertastan hooch tonight.
Been makin a few miles this fall. Prob put on 700-800 miles on some weekend trips to the farm and one to the wife’s cabin to winterize the boat.
That OE style starter is not loving life, especially when warm. I’ll have to look into another mini starter over winter I guess. Wasn’t really a huge surprise that it wouldn’t last.
Took it to work yesterday, clutch seemed spongy. Was out bag drivin with my buddy’s z28 after work. The chinapanese z-bar finally gave up the ghost after a 5 year battle with the CF dual friction clutch.
Popped it all apart, straightened it, welded it back up, on both sides this time. Put a small piece of pipe on for a gusset. Upon being put back together, the clutch seems to work quite a bit more
Smoothly and solidly compared to what I’ve noticed the last while. We will see how long it lasts for this time I guess.
There was surprisingly no wear on any bushings and even steel on steel pivot points. Which I’m quite surprised with as well being it was just a cheap eBay pedal kit I used.
