Good luck on the new start on the project! When I was starting mine a little over a year ago, I knew I was going to have some hurdles ahead of me. Since this was my first 1st gen, I had NO IDEA what a different beast it really is. The nasty onion of crustiness went way deeper than its outer skin. Some of the knowledgeable and influential 1st gen dudes gave me tons of advice. The only advice I didn't listen to them about was driving it. Glad I didn't! Mine was super weak in the rocker box area. Now its stripped to a shell, well part of a shell. Basically the front floor and firewall. Anyway its in the builds somewhere.
The point of this rant was to thank the 1st gen guys for their advice and excitement. Listen to them all.
Plans are good. Figure out a direction and don't be bummed when you deviate a bit, but you will at least have general idea!
