Cover pic is pretty cool, and so are the specs. Love to see more pictures of the work that’s been done!
Thank you, The cover is obviously not mine...It has the color scheme that I want so I posted it for inspiration.
I had a SNAFU when uploading, Got it figured out & posted them...
Since I am under Quarantine, I thought it a good time to get this build posted

You can dump the pictures straight into the thread too, if you like

The tub looks clean
This was a “outdoor” barn find...lol
It was taken apart 27 years ago then when the owner passed away, his brother, who has an interesting property in the desert finally released his white knuckle grip on it.
The repaint was done just before the frame was removed to make it into a 2WD. No rust anywhere

What sending unit are you using? I’ve modified a couple of tanks and that one looks like it is going to fit in the stock tank.

I just read your overview and you are using a 87 suburban fuel tank. I use the sending u it from a 90’s suburban and add the sending unit ring to the stock tank. (Stock skid plate was already powder coated to match or I might have switched tanks too.)

I have a 350 4 bolt, a replacement crate engine that came out of a 83 3500 Bucket truck with low miles.
I was going to use it for a while but got a great deal on a LQ9 with under 100K.
This weekend I modified the original engine cross member to install it.
It worked out perfectly, so for you guys that would rather spend time in the garage than at work making money to give away to a company that will sell you a cross member for $300-$400...
This is what I did.
I changed nothing on the engine but I Did have to remove the exhaust manifolds...

So I took my 2WD 4L65e along with a 4WD output shaft to the transmission shop to have it inspected & changed out...turns out some water got mixed up with the fluid & it’s a 4L60e, so a total rebuild is in the works with a few goodies & a new Torque Converter...easiest way to say goodbye to $1500:doah:

I thought I would rough out a rusty old GMC radiator support first to see if I can get it to work & what mistakes I may make along the way.
Got the Advances Adapters 6 bolt to 4 with the gear & sensor...
Pretty sure this won’t work for me, plus the thing got pretty dinged up with the way it was packed

The 2nd picture is somewhat funny to me with the and new technology side by side.
The voltage regulator and then the fans and engine.
:D

The big brown truck stopped by to drop off a package that had a few goodies from Summit Racing.

Among them was a 6 bolt to 4 bolt adapter from Advanced Adapters.

I never bought from them before but the face of the adapter never should have passed quality control & the threads are just loaded with threading material...I hoped for $300, the quality would better.
It doesn’t look like the gear & sensor will work either.

I was hoping for a better weekend of progress than I’m likely to have

Has anyone else had this issue adapting a 99-2006 4L60E 4WD transmission to my original 1969 NP205?

When I called the tech at Advanced Adapters, the only advice that was given was to purchase the $800 kit that would have me replace my stock output shaft with their output shaft.
Makes me wonder why they offer the 50-0405E kit if the adapter isn’t long enough to allow the supplied gear to align with the original shaft.
I have a mill & can easily remove the .625” of material from my factory 350 to NP205 so it will fit the 0405 adapter as the supplied directions direct but that doesn’t address the output shaft length issue.

Neither does replacing my stock 13.25” shaft with their 13.25” output shaft...
I already spent $1500 to rebuild the transmission, it doesn’t make sense to buy their $800 kit then pay the transmission shop to replace my output shaft with theirs at this point...

Can anyone shed light on my issue?
