6BT Cummins for my Blazer !

CrewCab59 said:
Tom,
my non tilt adapter looks like the stock p-30 but the holes are off set so it keeps the engine level with the trans.( I don't have my shop up and going since I moved to TN.)

I have the mounts and the engine member in stock, the non tilt bellhousing isn't complete yet.

I just used GM 2 core rad and 94 dodge stock fan set up,I have about 2'' between my fan and rad.
There will be more space with the first gen cooling set up,but I don't know about the 2'' more!

My mounts fit the Cummins block 3.9,5.9 same bolt pattern.
The stock engine crossmember won't work ,I also make them as well!
What pics do you need of my mounts or engine?
The engine is placed so the head can be removed, push rods, head bolts. Also I move my engine a little forward so I have more room at the firewall!

hold on you make moutns to do a 6bt swap into a k5:eek1: oh wow this changes things.. i was gonna do a 6.2 but now i dunno... can you convert a 465 to a heavy dut version?

Sounds good ! You answered the questions I had about motor placement in that last reply - so no need for other pic's ( I have looked at pic's you have already posted in other threads so they will tell me what I need to know also).
I have not compared the different model year pump/pulley set ups so I can not confirm the space distance but I agree with you that 2" seems like an aweful lot......If your set up works well than I should have ample room with the earlier model parts.

Thanks for the response and info !
I'll be in tuch with you about your mounts once my research is more complete.

Tom

do you have the other links to those threads...:D

What links are you talking about?

Yes,

Links to threads with pictures that tarussel mentioned.

79K20350 ,
One of the sets of pic's are in the Cummins to Chevy thread on page two ( at the top of the page in the sticky section ) and I can not remember where the other ones were at - sorry .
The positioning looks real good and functional !

Tom

P.S. I am about as useless as can be on the world wide web so I have no idea how to post a link.....

My brothers 67' CTD is coming along finally. We have the motor sitting in place, the intercooler sitting in place and we're trying to find a radiator that will fit :( . Seems the GM ones are 2" too wide. Now a question. What are you going to use for a brake setup? I just mounted a GM hydroboost in and it fits but will it will hook up to the CTD power steering pump.It also hits the intercooler line so that's going to need some attention. Any ideas of pic's?

For the 67' I would say go with a big block radiator and have a seperate oil cooler, that would be the cleanest way and cheaper too.

From what I can tell the 24V motors in 1998.5 to 2002 trucks use hydroboost and the P/S pump looks like it will interchange but I do not know this for sure. I am using the GM hydro brake set up and I hope to be able to match up a 24V pump to make it all work together.
The intake horn does look like it will interfear with the master cylinder but I am hoping the intake is bolted on a square pattern and I want to see if clocking it forward will work - I plan on fabing up some different pipe to mount to the intercooler.

I am still collecting parts so I do not have the motor out of the donor truck yet or any pic's that are worth posting at this time.

The Gm P/S line will thread in the dodge. The 12V also used hydro as well. The air horn will clear the Gm boost assy.

Do you know which number that bell would be?
I think I might have it here.
I think it's an SAE but haven't checked yet, can you find out the numbers that it should be I will check what I have .

imiceman44 , From what I can tell the 12V motors are common with a SAE#3 bell pattern . I am looking for my chart that has the SAE dimensions and will post up when I find it . I am hoping that your bell is a #3 match up .
Do you know what it is from - application/year ???

Found it ! SAE#3 measures 16.875" 12 bolt pattern with hole diameters of .433".

Thanks , Tom
