Hey guys! It's been a long while since I've done anything new, I've just been trying to keep up with the orders for everything as they come through. But I've been spending way too much time making D-shackle tabs the way I have been - so I've decided to change that! I'm now making CNC'd tabs out of full 1" thick material, with a good amount of material around the hole, and a large enough hole to fit a 7/8" shackle! Although they are thick, they will still fit a 3/4" shackle if need be as well.
On the left is the new shackle tab with a 7/8" shackle in there, the middle is the side profile of the tab itself, and on the right is a little 3/4" shackle for comparison purposes.
I'm also thinking that I might explore the idea of a bolt-on shackle tab with a backing plate. I know most of you guys on this site would probably prefer a weld-on tab, but I'm thinking that a simple installation of drilling two holes and bolting one on might sell okay. There would obviously be more machining time, plus the backing plate, plus the bolts, washers, and lockwashers so the price would be a bit higher. I'd love to hear from all of you about this, give me some feedback!
