Who else has ran this setup? I got mine 203/205 doubler all put together (2 inch clock on the 205) and finally got that pig back into the truck today. All we really had was a floor jack and my arm, its still tired lol. I got it in there and it hit the floor and it was hanging down a good 4-5 inches under the frame and it was at a pretty good angle. Walking into to it I was sort of expecting minor trimming as stated but DAMN I pretty much had to cut out the whole trans tunnel and a good section under the passenger seat. I didnt want to but I didnt have a choice. It doesnt bug me to much cause the bottom of the adpators are flush the frame now( I figured if I am going to hack on it might as well open it up and get it up there huh) but I was curious to see if anyone else had to do this much hacking? From what I have seen most of the doubler setup sit about flush with the frame. My crossmember will hang down however thick it is of course. Looking at it, the combination of the long 700 and the 2 inch spacer, it pushed the drivetrain pretty far back in relation to the tranny tunnel. The hole pretty much goes back to where the center console stopped.

I still got to screw around with the NWF cable shifters too. Kind of dissapointed, had to redo the connections on the actual shifters. The little 1/4 bolts with a single shear could never handle that much force, they sheared off the first time I tried to shift the 205 and I had to make a new arm for the 203 because the stock one doesnt clear the 205 shifters. Not the bad of an ordeal I got all of that taken care off and its shifts nice now, just got to route those cables somehow, they are stiff has hell. It didnt aggervate me to much but for that much money I shouldnt have had to mess with that; it took the better part of a day. besides that, they are pretty bitchin though:D

I'm ordering my doubler kit pretty soon and will be putting it behind my 700r4. I have a truck cab though so I don't think it will require as much cutting, but that doesn't worry me. Could you snap some pics of it installed? I was thinking of mounting the 203 upside down for more ground clearence

Do you have a body lift?

I'm interested to hear what others say as well. I have an 89 blazer with a 700R4 and someday (hopefully this year) will install my doubler. I however am going with the shortshaft in the trans to keep it as short as possible and also so that my triple stick shifters (hopefully) go through the stock hole in the floor as Steven from ORD said it should.

Na no body lift on my rig. Looking at the product reviews (doubler review on the UAV), that setup sits forward a LOT more than mine. I know I got the 2 inch spacer but its more than that, I guess the 700 is a bit longer than the th400 but I would estimate looking at it my setup sits back a good 4-5 inches in comparision.

With a body lift and the short shaft you might be able to get the shifters and everything what not in there with out serious hacking but I have my doubts. I really cant tell you because moving 2 inches forwards plus a body lift would help but I dont think it would have done enough. Before I hacked away, the back of the doubler was hanging down below the frame atleast 4 inches, it was at a pretty good angle.

I probably could have done a little less trimming, but it sits about like the UAV maybe just a hair higher but the bottom of the 205 is pretty much flush with the frame. One of the first things to touch was the shift linkage for the 205 (thats why i had to trim so much under the passsenger seat).

It shouldnt be to bad, just build it up and modify one side of the seat rails. I probably do something later for the center console but for now I need to get it back on the road because it my DD and I have big trip this weekend. I got to get me exhaust redone too, the long tube headers are just to much so I am going to go back to manifolds and do like the UAV and run a single pipe (was sort of expected though).

I have taken a bunch of pics and I will take more tommorow, I will post them under this thread tomorrow for yall. I was going to wait till I was finished but I might get it done tommorow night; Ill post them either way. I did a different spin on the crossmember, my buddy cut me out a new pto plate for the 205 and we bascially trussed everything together from the back of the 205 to the trans/tcase adaptor. I think it came out pretty slick. I am sure the typical 2 crossmember idea is fine but I dont like the idea of 100 pounds of steel and iron hanging off of that aluminium peice unsupported to much.

I dont understand on how running the 203 range box upsidedown nets ground clearnce. It isnt any lower than the either of the adapator peices. The 203 is defiantely up and above what the tranny tunnel was before, I would imagine flipping would be even worse? I have no idea on that though, just a quick thought.

I have the same set up in my blazer only with the short shaft in the 700 and not the spacer. I had to cut alot out of the floor to get it up high enough, but that was with the 205 almost flat. When I had the 205 clocked down more I was able to get it where I wanted it without cutting but it hung down more than I wanted. You are welcome to come by and check it out if you need to.

How are your front and rear driveshaft angles? What series u-joints are you running? CV or non-CV driveshafts?

The angles seem to be fine. I have not had any issues so far. The front shaft uses the stock 60 joint at the axle and a conversion at the t-case. The big size is the same as the 14 bolt stock. Not sure what these are classified as. The rear shaft has the conversion joint for 1 ton to half ton at the axle. I have a flange at the case with the half ton size. Sorry if that was confusing. I used parts from a bunch of shafts that I had around. Neither of the shafts have CV's and have not had any issue so far. I would like to if I ever have new shafts built.

Here are some pictures of the floor hacking, double,r and truss system my buddy fabbed up.

Looking at it now, I think my driveshaft angles are going to be fine. I have CV front and rear but in the front I think I could easily get away with a non cv joint. Its clocked way up there, but with such a long combination the angle isnt very steep at all. The rear is pretty short and fairly steep, I think the cv would have to stay.

Mudman, was your 205 at the copperhead shop not to long ago? Kyle was telling me it(the one that was at the shop) was off a 203/205 doubler, cant be too many of those running around here in lubbock, it had a flange on the rear too.

I have a 700r4 doubler, I am running an factory 208/241 adapter as my spacer with the redrilled 203 from ord. My total combo measures out to 48" from bellhousing to the rear yoke. That's 1.25 inches longer then my 400-203 combo i had in there stock. My 205 is clocked up 2" and i had to hit the floorboard with a hammer a little bit where the breather hoses touched the floorboard, then i cut the floorboard a little to fit the shifters and shifter bracket assembly that came with the tripple sticks only by the passenger side where the tranny tunnel meets the floorboard. Once that was all said and done it was onto the drivelines. I went with a flange to a highangle 1350cv to a 1350 yoke on the front driveline, and i got away with a regular driveline with no cv in the rear with 1350 at the 205 and 1410 at the pinion. I have a truck cab, so the floorboard has some room. My front driveline got much longer from doing this swap, and really helped out on the angles.

That was mine. I was having him make me a bracket for the back of it to keep it from rotating up and breaking the clocking ring. Your floor looks about like mine. I may have to cut some more to get mine that far up in the frame.

I figured it was yours lol, cant be to many around here. Yeah he was telling me what was going on, I didnt get to see the bracket though. Well one of these days Ill make it to one of the post runs, I still havent been to one yet.

Next one is March first. We are having a big one on April 5th and all of the proceeds go to Wounded Worrior project. It should be a good time.
