700 R4 crappin out

My 700 R4 is crappin out on my 90 Jimmy. I am planning on replacing it and was looking at getting the 700 R4 from Jet (http://www.4x4review.com/products/drive_train/jet-trans.asp and it seems like it will be real good for me.

If I do get this transmission how hard is it to install? If I had all the right tools for the job is it pretty straight forward? Is there anything I would have to look for?

Just swapped out the burned-to-a-crisp 700R4 in my S10 before I sold it a couple weeks ago. It was the worst job I have ever done in a vehicle. I was also working on 40lbs of crap stuffed into a 10lb truck... Never done one on a K5 yet, but it looks a world easier!! Go for it!!

It definetly isn't that bad for a 4wd. Personally I hate dealing w/ the tcase. Worst part is the weight of the thing, but you can make you own tranny holder that will fit on a jack and it isn't too bad.

I dont run a Jet. I got mine from TCI. I like it, like it alot. If you are going to get one from Jegs(PN#890-371000) contact TCI( <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tciauto.com>http://www.tciauto.com</A> ) first to make sure the application fits yours. Its a lockup version that is 30 spline. I got the kickdown unit installed in it too. The unit will not allow the tranny to go down to third gear from fourth at cruising speed. This happens when you ease back on the throttle any bit past 3/4. Neat stuff. GOOD for mpg.

Dont steal my truck..I dont need anymore worthless junk over my fireplace.
