ok so i've searched but haven't gotten a real clear answer

my 700r4 is leaking from the adapter to the t-case, it's not the o-ring side it's the actual paper gasket. is there supposed to be fluid in that adapter? it's been awhile and i can't remember. i know the trans is not leaking into the t-case because i pulled the fill plug and the case is not over filled and the tranny was low. anyway is there supposed to be fluid in the adapter? if not is there a seal in the back of the tranny that i can replace?

IIRC there is no rear seal on the 700r4 4x4 trans. The front seal in the t case keeps the trans fluid in the tranny. Fluid should flow from the tranny in to the adapter. So if fluid is leaking out of the adapter you will have to pull it and replace the gasket.

X2...What he said. Do yourself a big favor and don't use a gasket, use ultra black RTV. A nice 1/4" bead around the adapter going around each bolt hole and no leaks again. :thumb:

ok just making sure, i couldn't remember if there was a seal in the back of the tranny or not

i was planning on using the black rtv
