Yes....that is broke. Uh-oh.....where did it go?

And there should be an o-ring.

Thanks! Thought so. There is a rubber tube like seal in the case where this slips into. The missing part wasent in the pan, but i will search the 2 gallons that came out. Maybe it was floating and came out first.

I hate tranny fluid. This is the 4th time taking the pan off in about a yr. Everytime i say im going to weld in a bung to drain the fluid easier.

Thanks again.

That is broken for sure, this type of cable does not use an O ring, it uses a rubber "boot" that goes into the case, then the cable end is inserted into the boot to seal.

I can't find one locally. Dealer cant get them and no parts store has them. Is it a bad idea to grab one from Pick Your Part?

The tv cable housing? I got mine from summit. (tci product) Had it to my house in 2 days standard shipping IIRC. The whole housing and cable setup.

What can't you find? A replacement cable?

Check with trans shops, I ran into alittle trouble trying to find one at parts stores as well, I just gave up and get them from the guy that rebuilds my transmissions from now on, he always has them, or knows where to get them.

Says they're like $18.

Got it. Its not the OE push button type. But it will work. Thanks!

Its the one with the plastic clip right? Thats what i have. My tranny guy said if you have that kind just make sure at full throttle the cable cant be pulled out any more and your good. Thats how i set mine and it shifts right when its supposed to and nice and firm :waytogo:

just a thought jeff.
i did that on my th400. doesnt seem to be leaking yet. plus it gave me a spot to easily hook up my tranny gauge.

Im not doing it this time because I need to get this done this weekend, But next time for sure. There is nothing worse than spilling tranny fluid everywhere.

Thanks!

Got the leak fixed, new tv cable on. Now it slips in 4th gear. Shifts good in the first couple gears. When I get up to about 45mph, in 4th gear it slips. WTF? Hope I don't have to redo this new tranny.

Any suggestions ??

Its got to be the tv cable needs adjusting right? Its got to be dammit. Im getting worried that i might have to drop the tranny. I only drove it 1 mile. Maybe.

I think (with my zero knowledge of 700r4 or tv cable )
That it sounds like the adjustment on the tv cable.
Good luck boss

Move it towards the firewall alittle at a time for settings, the shifts should get firmer and quicker.

Adjust the cable so that it is as tight as possible at wide open throttle. Have someone hold the throttle to wide open while you check it, should be so tight that it would restrict throttle opening or bend the bracket if it were any tighter.

Im by myself, so I held the throttle open at the TBI when I adjusted it. Could that be the problem?

Also, it's a different design cable. I havent adjusted it at the part where it hooks to the mount.

Here is a few pics of the cable.

When at WOT the cable it tight. I will move the adjuster closer to the firewall, I haven't adjusted that part yet, just the flathead screw fitting on the end of the cable.

You need to do it at the pedal not the TB because your pedal might not pull the TB open as much.
That is why you need 2 people
Plus why is the cable going at that angle?
