Does a 700r4 have a vent hose? I was looking at my truck last night, 88 sub 4x4, and it looked like an elbow for a vent hose at the top of the case, but I couldn't see too well. The trans was replaced in Feb. by GM so maybe they forgot to put it back on? I couldn't find any loose hoses hanging anywhere though. Thanks in advance

Nah, no tranny that I know of came with a vent hose. Just get some vacuum line go to town! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

They have a small plastic (they often break off) vent tube at the top facing backwards just behind the bellhousing. You can see it in this picture.

As stated, they do have small plastic vents from the factory, but some rebuilders replace them with metal. When I had my 700R4 rebuilt, I had it replaced with a metal one.

If you ever have your trans apart far enough you can pull out the metal or plastic that is there and tap it for an 1/4" pipe thread and throw a barb in there for a rubber vent tube which of course can be run up nice and high. There is plenty of meat there to tap NPT threads in.
