72 burb (this is why i can't go to salvage yards)

I vote for frenched in, if for no other reason than that I am considering the same thing and want to copy you. :D
I think it may be a combo of the two before it's done. I want to carry the armor all the way up to the trim line. 1/8" diamond plate sheathing. Then French the rock guards into that. Since my Girlfriend is 4-11" I might also include a step or two on it.

I thought I was doing all of this to kill time while my engine was being finished at the machine shop. Called in today to check on it and apparently they have not even been able to start on it yet. Bummer. I guess that is one of the issues dealing with a great machine shop that is in high demand. I'm not mad I was just hoping to get started soon on my power plant. Closest estimate he could give me was about 5 weeks....

SO... I guess I will start on some of the fab work that I want to do. Here is a list of stuff I am tackling right now.
Front springs- still don't have a solution there for a higher weight loading and 2" lift
Front 8 lug swap- I have all the parts just need to do it.
Wheels and hubcaps to powder coating. Another one of them, I just need to do it.

Interior remodel- I am using the stock 84 stuff from my parts suburban. It's ratty but it is complete and will have to do for now until I have the funds to revocation everything.

Finally got the drivers side door back on. So there is that...Yeeeeeaaaahhh

Plans all sound great. We need more pics! I'm planning on using ez inches on my truck too, I want a little more height, but want it to still look stock.

Starting to take measurements on the rear fuel tank from the 84 suburban and guard to install in the 72. Anyway one done this? Dimensionally it looks like it will fit but I have not gotten into the particulars.

Frame rails should be narrower but the same as a 1 ton squarebody. They are also the same as a pickup from that same yr just different body mount brackets. There are write ups on doing the blazer tank but basics are the same. Move crossmembers and fab new way to mount straps.

Had a little time to work on the sub today before the rain set in. Removed the factory steering box and shaft to swap in the unit from the 84 parts truck/hydro boost set up. For those who have done this, would you use the 84 drag link or the stock 72? The 84 is adjustable and seems a good amount beefier to me anyway.

Was planning to swap in the hydro boost master today as well but ran out of time. Man alive there is a ton of crap in the way behind the dash on the 84. To get to the brake pedal connection is like digging through a rainforest of nonsense. Debating on changing out the pedals as well. Hangers look close and the larger pedal from the 84 would be nice to have in the 72 that just has the stock skinny pedal. I did remove the 84 accelerator pedal today in the process of looking over the parts. Easy swap into the 72 and gives me the correct throttle cable connection with no mods.

Great score! Glad to see another saved I could never work in a salvage yard for that reason. I'll be readin along

I was wondering about him the other day when I saw his thread pop up. Looks like he hasn't been on since 6/29 which is odd given his frequent postings before.

Prob busy enjoying the Montana summer. Im gonna go enjoy it with my wife a little this weekend and run up there.
