72 Custom/20 on Rocks, new pics.

GM Of The Month:waytogo:

We had a 4 month run on it here in the first gen section, no big deal:pimp:

Glad to see you're making some progress! That rear bumper looks SERIOUS!

I should have known that:doah:
Haha, yeah its kinda heavy, its some were around 120lbs or more. I have a problem with making things a little more "serious" than they need to be. Kinda having mixed emotions on weither I'm going to put it on this truck or one of my k30's.
BTW, I love your Blazer. Its the reason I changed my mind and I want to go with 40's instead of 37's.

Nice! Thanks man:waytogo:

I think just about everybody here likes the "overbuilt" route:whistle: How many trucks do you have? I can't wait until we're back on the mainland and I can not only get mine back, but pick up a crew and who knows what else!

I have.
72 Custom/20
84 k/30 Dually reg cab
58 Chevy 2wd stock sitting in a barn for the last 30 years.
Working out a deal right now on either a 85 k/30 reg cab srw or a 90 k3500 crew cab srw, its a long story on that one.

Sounds like a sweet fleet:pimp:

Thanks man, I'm really hoping to get the crew but thats up to the owner right now, I want to build it in to a daily driver, tow rig. Some day I'd like this one to be a street queen show truck.

Sounds about like what I want to do eventually

Question for you, how do you like the 39.5's with 4.56 gears and the manual trans? I have a NV4500 for mine but I was kinda thinking about using it in one of the other trucks and leaving the th400 in this one. I don't really want to change my gears to 4.88's is the reason I ask.

I honestly think my gearing is PERFECT for a dual use vehicle. With it in low/1st gear it's more than low enough off road for my taste. On road with the wide ratios on the 465 I get pretty good mileage (over 10), plenty of torque in the lower gears to get going and cruise at 65 @2,500rpm's. I had 4.88's in my old half tons and I thought it was a tad over-geared. I don't know power numbers on my motor, but I assume in the ~300hp area. Hope that helps. Also, ask Russell - he drove it last month:waytogo:

I know what you mean by over-geared, 4.56 and 35's sucks, its grate off the line but I can't go down the freeway without thinking I'm going to blow my big block up.
I'm good with that, just need the stupid $600 adapter for the NV4500 to the 205 now:angry1:

what transmission are you using with the 4.56's now?

I'm running 3.73's with an NV4500 and 35's and I can't even use 5th gear. it can't hold speed in 5th. I don't have a tach yet, so I'm not sure where I'm running, but I was thinking of switching to 4.56's. maybe I should be looking at 4.11? :dunno:

With 35's and the nv4500 you would probably really like 4.56's. That extra gear will more than compensate for the difference we have with 39.5's I bet.

It has a Th400 in it right now and its way to low for highway use. My original plan was to go to a 37in tire and the nv4500 to even it out but now I've been thinking of going to a bigger tire and keep the th400 in the truck.
I'm with paramedic I'd still go with the 4.56.

cool, thanks for the info guys. I'm not going to do anything until I get a tach and I can nail down what RPM I want to be running at whatever speed, but that helps a bunch.

Here's some more pictures for you guys. The first few are of the old D44 coming out and installing the 60. My roommate devised the over sized skate board to move the 60 into position. You can also see the first set of re-arched springs or what I like to call mistake #1.

I need a garage, I did some of the shackle flip with snow on the ground. I borrowed a set of 38.5 boggers from a friend and put one on for the fun of it. A pic of when I had the truck back together again last year and a poser shot of moving the boat around. I seamed to have lost a lot of my pictures, I'll have to jump on the desk top to see if I have more on there.:dunno:
