Is your next goal BB2011 now?
I am not making to this either so I just want to see what I should set my goal to, when I saw you behind, I decided not to push on my project... Not good for me, I need the inspiration bro.
Although, I don't want that to be misunderstood, I am in no way doing anything similar, just trying to get a 4x4 GM vehicle good enough to make a trip to moab :D

Believe me, the desire is there....I love Moab and will go there every chance I get. There were simply too many obstacles to overcome for the BB10 event.

The main challenge was vacation time. When Fujitsu was acquired last year, all of my acrued vacation time was paid-out as salary and I started with an empty vacation account that only accumulates at 2 weeks/year). The trip to Moab would have burned every bit of it, and left me with no days left for anything else. Fortunately, now I've got some days in the bank, and I'll start earning 3 weeks/year starting in January 2011.

The second challenge was budget, and anyone who's watched this thread can see that I've been spending plenty. :eek1: But, the truth is that there are still thousands upon thousands of dollars to go. The money is being set aside each paycheck and I should have enough to finish the build by next September assuming that I have enough of the final item..... TIME.

I refuse to cut corners or rush things to get the truck running, especially on the drivetrain and suspension. I'm never taking the truck THIS far apart again, so once it's built.....it's staying built, and the only modifications will be smaller "refinements" as I drive it and learn about it's capabilities and weaknesses.

AND.......finally after almost two years of trying, my wife and I finally found out we've got a baby on the way! :woot: It's an amazing feeling to know that there will soon be a little boy in the house; following me around with a million questions about the world and how things work. It's going to be fantastic, but I also have to keep some perspective on how our lives will change... Clearly, the pace of my life is not going to slow down anytime soon. The house projects (which have always been the priority) need to get completed more quickly, and I may have to spend fewer contiguous hours in the shop and just grab a few hours here-and-there as the opportunities present themselves. Realistically, I may have to farm-out a lot more of the painting later on even though I really wanted to do the bodywork and paintjob myself to have that experience... I'll just have to see how things evolve and make adjustments along the way.

2011 is going to be an epic year both in terms of my family life, and the Might As Well thread!!! :thumb:

If you want the serious answer his name will be William Charles.

William after my grandfather, and Charles because my wife wanted to be involved in selecting at least part of the name. Also, I had suggested "Danger" for the middle name. A lot of people thought it was awesome, but I could tell from her angry facial expression that it wasn't going to fly at all....

We'll call him Charlie while he's still a young kid, since that will be a fun name to have. When he's older and wants something that sounds more "serious" he can use William. Personally, I still hope that when he's still young he takes on the Danger nickname for himself.....assuming he's the kind of kid who likes being the class clown like I was.

Fun times ahead....I'm already thinking about how to fit a kid-sized seat in the back of the K5 now. Even though I won't be pushing him toward 4x4 stuff there is hope that he'll think it's fun on his own and will at least want to go camping or explore dirt roads through the woods in a big, bouncy convertible truck. :D

Well, better figure out a seriously bad-a car seat mount for the cage now! :D I've been considering that myself... :D

Corngrats on the baby. We just had our first in May. It's a crazy awesome thing.

Nice looking engine as well. I used an ARP bolt kit too and had had to be the best 100 bucks I've ever spent on an engine build.
