Besides.... Once they are all lovingly brushed, welded, cleaned and perfect.... I'm coating them with black JetHot so that they disappear into the engine bay. All that hard work will become nearly invisible.

You may have already researched this but I just wanted to say be careful with your coating color choice, Jet Hot's coating colors are all flat except for the high luster silver. I had a set of headers done in gray which appeared glossy on their site but looked like primer when I got them. Ultimately, they recoated them for me at no charge.

I am happy with their product and would use them again but I encourage you to call them and have a clear conversation about your expectations before having hour headers coated.

Header mock up is looking good.

Didn't think of it till now but I really have to say, I appreciate the simplicity of the turbo diesel exhaust

The shopping list goes on, and parts are arriving almost daily:

- The stainless U-Bends (Qty 16) have arrived
- 3/8" Stainless Head Flanges have arrived
- The Vibrant Clamps have arrived
- The 1/16" 308 & 309 filler wire has arrived
- The .030" 308 & 309 filler wire has arrived
- The purge gas setup (hose and tube plug) have been acquired locally
- Chemical Tungsten sharpener has arrived
- Bought two more 80CuFt bottles of pure Argon (for purge setup and/or TIG welding)

- Still waiting on a few more items from Cone Engineering (Straight sections, and uber-collector parts)
- Still waiting for the Argon regulator/flow valve

In the next few days, the remaining items should arrive. It's been a crap-ton of work to get the parts list figured out and ordered, to say nothing of the costs to step-up my game for TIG welding. :yikes:

I'm really looking forward to getting out in the shop soon to get all of this new stuff unpacked and set up.... put on some mellow music so I can concentrate, and then start TIG-melting some stainless scraps together. :saweet:

Pics to follow, as promised!

Better apply some pressure, looks like you're hemorrhaging money!!!:eek1::haha:

Looking forward to seeing this come together!

Boy, you said it!!! :eek1:

At least the $10,000 crossmember was mostly labor! :haha: Getting all these hard parts is really getting pricey....

In the big picture, of course the TIG machine, filler rods and so many other items will be reused (basically for FREE) on other projects later on, so the costs really need to amortized across the entire project not just the header build.

I'll be OK..... just need to take a few deep breaths and let the credit card / bank account cool off for a few days!!

In other news a local bank suddenly burst into flames, the cause is still unknown but Investigators suspect Gregs account may have been used to purchase items for a (:haha:) first gen build. Film at 11:00!:haha:

More like an implosion.... the tremendous vacuum created as money was pulled from the vault caused the sidewalls to buckle, and ultimately led to it's collapse!!

:haha:

You should fabricate a heatsink for your credit card with that fancy TIG welder of yours...

That would require me to go out and buy some aluminum (and AL filler rod).... it's a real Catch-22!!!

I doubt you can find custom made one off stainless headers for $1200. They are usually $1400 - $2200 just for mild steel.
