Will that be the only way to air up? No backup?

If you're asking if there will be failsafes.... the answer is YES.

Two compressors to prevent a single-point-of-failure for air source.
Shutoffs plumbed into the air lines strategically to allow a single wheel to be isolated from system if a leak occurs

I can always convert any of the wheels to a "regular" setup just by disconnecting the airline from the valvestem, and then screwing in the valve core (check valve) that is normally inside the valvestem. I can then just air it up like normal with a portable coiled coil-type airline and a right-angle airchuck since the access to the valvestems is a bit tougher than a traditional wheel.

QUICK UPDATE....

Still searching for the perfect "white" that would have been correct for the wheels in 1972.

GM%20White%20Codes.jpg

So.... there are only 2 paint codes that could possibly have been correct: WA5111 and WA3967. I picked up some DupliColor GM paint in those colors to spray out a few test pieces to see what they actually looked like.

IMG_0292.jpg

The WA5111 definitely looks like a "pure" white...with almost a blueish hue. The WA3967 definitely looks more yellow or "creamy" by comparison....

Laid into the wheels as another way to get a feel for it:

On a different note: The final template for the cage plates has been completed. We have been going back and forth to fine-tune the lengths and angles for each transition and have them just about flawless now.... :waytogo:

The production of the real steel 6" x 6" plates will begin over the Memorial Day weekend. :D

I'm digging the pure white over the creamy color..

I'm 95% convinced that is the correct white for the wheels....

Still digging and researching. Bought 3 cans of each color from Amazon, and I'll spray the actual wheels next week to test it out on a larger part.

I keep forgetting what color the blazer is getting painted? Refresh our memories!

Imagine this color (Hugger Orange):

With this interior (Houndstooth Black & White):

....and those white steel wheels and a set of restored factory 12" hubcaps.

Rollcage will be something dark (though not pure black)....some kind of carbon grey, or gunmetal type color.

Stock chrome bumpers with a hidden winch up front, and hinged license plate out back with a receiver style D-ring receiver behind it for extracting Jeeps, etc.

MYSTERY SOLVED: :waytogo:

A fellow enthusiast provided the following document that conclusively shows the color codes for the wheels (and a few other key small items)

1972%20Truck%20Colors.jpg

The wheels are Ditzler 2185: aka: GM WA5111 (#521 - White)

Time to get some paint applied, and get a powdercoat match started.

Isn't it crazy the time it takes to make one offs of everything? I mean, you even had to make your wheels! Looking good Greg, looking good. :waytogo:

Indeed. :yikes:

I bought all those new engine goodies back in December and I still haven't even gotten around to pulling the motor apart to install any of them.

At least I had a little spare time to deal with one "too close to the strut" exhaust issue. Pulled the passenger side header and cut a few segments off and added a slight "curve" to increase the clearance from about 1/4" to around 1.25"

Then, I gave all 5 wheels a quick sandblast.... and hit them with Ryoken Green on all sides. Then shot the faces with the WA5111 (Code #521):

It's time to swap the tires over from the H2 wheels to these long-awaited steelies!!! :waytogo:

The only difficulty is that I can probably only fit ONE tire and wheel in the back of my LandCruiser at a time, so I'm going to have to make a bunch of trips to the tire store to get the tires unmounted / remounted.

:haha:

You don't know anyone with a truck or trailer?

Don't you remember my YouTube tube bender videos?

"I need to get some friends, I guess...."

:haha:

Anyway. I managed to get everything done in only two trips. The new wheels look good on the truck.

I remember when I converted my sixpack to dually, the biggest carrier vehicle I had was my Isuzu Amigo. I think it took me three trips to do seven tire/wheel combos, even for those stock-sized tires. People just don't appreciate the effort we put into this hobby...
