lol. Been too busy this week to do any smack talk with any of the boys. Figured I'd get a weeks worth in on one paragraph. :haha:

Wheels came out sick, Brother. :saweet:

The best option I could come up with was buying a drop-valley 17" hoop while I had Mike checking junk yards all over NorCal looking for the perfect wheel. Once he sent me a ton of pics of wheels, I picked the ones I wanted. Awesome Mike then removed all of the wheels from an old yellow work truck, loaded two tires at a time into a crappy junkyard wheelbarrow and pushed them through the loose gravel to the desk. After paying for the wheels, Awesome Speeeeedhole Mike loaded them into his truck and drove the 45 minutes home. Once he got home, I told Gooood Loookin' Mike that I don't want the entire wheel, I only want the inner part. So I had Awesomely Goooood Loookin' Speeeeedhole Mike to take out his plasma and cut all of the outer rings off making a mess in his driveway at the same time. AGLSHM them packed them all up and sent them to me. That is when I slapped some outer rings on them. Slathered some paint inside and out. Threw some caps and on them and patted myself on the back for doing such a great job, all on my own. I am awesome. Thanks for stopping by.

Every time I post a bucket picture I get hate mail.... mostly from @blazinzuk. :haha:

I've got a different photo where it looks like I just balanced a rear tire against the truck to disguise the fact that the rear axle wasn't installed....

I'm sorry was on vacation. I will get going on the hate mail very soon. After I catch up on stuff. Don't you worry Greg I'm on it

2016.06.14 - UPDATE! - NEW EXHAUST ROUTING...!!!!

The MDF fuel tank was pulled out to make room for some more experimentation last night. I'm still trying to figure out a way to get the exhaust all the way out the back of the truck, and it looks like I may have found a path in the VERY limited amount of space that's remaining under this truck! :)

Here's a photo of the truck at "ride height"...propped up by a dangerous amount of scrap 2x4' material.

I've been reading the David Vizard book again, and the "ideal" exhaust system uses not only mufflers, but also resonators. This keeps the exhaust quiet and "non-droney" and if done correctly, flows just as well as a open exhaust would. My original thought was to install the huge FlowMasters in the torsion box areas under the front seats, but since the resonators need to be installed upstream of the mufflers they had to find a new place to live. After some headscratching and oddball ratchetstrap/trimboard work a new location was verified. (Photo taken at "full bump" to check clearances)

This ends up being a pretty good spot. By following the same upswept angle as the framerail the underside clearance is preserved, and it opens up a bit more of an airspace above the muffler to help prevent heat-transfer to the interior of the truck. Also, it looks like there will be adequate clearance for a large-diameter rear driveshaft when that finally gets installed.

Since I didn't feel like spending $1000 for a bunch of assorted (3") 304 Stainless for testing and mockup work, I used the next best thing: 3" PVC from Home Depot! :haha: Obviously, it's rated by I.D. instead of OD so the overall size is huge. But I suppose if I can get THIS stuff to fit, I should have good clearances when it comes time to replace it with 3" stainless.

With regular 45* angles, I got a pretty credible-looking "stock" rear exit in place. Obviously, with real U-bends this can be finessed to a more exact location.

....and with the FlowMasters between the framerails, I reclaimed the torsion-box areas for the resonators!

Need to do some more reading to figure out exactly which brand / size will work best, but with SO much available space in that area I should be able to fit just about anything I want.

I'm not sure I buy that theory, plus there is plenty in the way of options to quiet things down and promote flow throughout the system, flowmaster not being one of them.
I like David's work, but he is not the end all be all..

IMHO you have spent considerable time creating an excellent flowing set of headers, why waste it on resonators and drone masters..
What sound are you after??

Stealth mode huh.. Hmm..

I might have room to hide a set of electric cutouts in the torsion box areas... for those moments when obnoxious is necessary. Otherwise, quiet is king.

BTW -> Flowmasters are my "placeholder" muffler because that's what I had leftover from when I blew the truck apart, and they are just about the most HUGE size muffler that exists. If I can find room for those, I can fit anything.

I like the idea of a chambered muffler vs. glasspack muffler since the sound won't ever change... but if I build it carefully with V-band clamps on either side of the muffler I would have the ability to swap out mufflers easily if I changed my mind later on or wanted to experiment a little bit with sound.

I think that you should keep the PVC. Consider that it will self-bend with the heated air inside, give you those nice U-bends without any work.

I like it.

Maybe let it "self design" for a while... Then ceramic coat the whole thing to lock-in the design.

Pure genius!
