Man, you going to need a step stool or small ladder to get to those upper cabinets.

I can reach them NO problem (when I'm standing on the benchtop)

:haha:

Totally worth having for storage of extra supplies or long-term storage of stuff I won't need anytime soon but want to keep dust-free.

I'm going to be able to clean this new workshop with a leafblower once it's set up properly. NOT EVEN KIDDING.

Already under consideration not only for the upper cabinets for also for access to the storage areas in the mezzanine space. :waytogo:

Does the plan include a safety strap to hook onto so you don't fall off said ladder and land on the floor again? We don't need the build set back further waiting for you to heal up again! :haha:

I do have two overhead cable hoists, so maybe I could just hook those to my belt loops when I’m climbing?

Solid idea. Just make sure the misses reinforces your belt loops on your britches. Wouldn't want your Levi's failing on you.

Where'd you end up placing the water softener? And what's going in that space between the benchtops?

You can see a glimpse of the new location in the 3rd pic. It’s straight up from its old location and now sitting in a drip pan (with drain) in the mezzanine. Easy solution and I refill salt so infrequently that it’s not a big hassle.

The open space is just a seating area for the workbench. It’s exactly 28” wide so if it ends up being a waste I can install another tool drawer there for a perfect fit.

2019.06.20 - UPDATE!!! - CLEANING UP THE MESS....

Finally got around to installing the second trolley winch overhead for the main storage area. This keeps me from trying to carry heavy objects up a wobbly ladder.... just attach to the winch, raise to the upper level and slide straight into the storage spot where they belong.

Starting over with new toolboxes means trying out a bunch of new toolbox liners to find just the right mat. Not too thin.... and sticky enough to hold tools in place without being SO sticky that it's gross and attacts dirt that can't be cleaned off. For an "extra" bit of luxury, each drawer was removed and flipped over to install a 12'x12" pad of Dynamat Extreme. Deadens the drawers and makes them feel substantially more solid sliding in and out and when dropping tools into them. :waytogo:

The new hoist was immediately pressed into service and LOTS of spares were raised up into the attic area and stored for future use. The floor space really started opening up and with a few more evenings of effort, this place should be looking GOOD!!!

And to celebrate, pulled a bunch of decorations that have been sitting around forever and put them up on the side wall to give the place some extra character and make it feel a bit more "finished". It's going to be a fun and comfortable space to work in before much longer....

That's it. Back to work!
