Love the color!

I miss the hub cabs though.

I think the son of the father and son team who did the paint and body work for me, could stand the idea of me driving out of there shop on steeles so he gave me the rally wheels off his 87 blazer.

But they went perfectly with the awesome color. Seriously! What are your wheel/tire plans?

Next time I'm in Houston I'd love to come check this out in person...... Maybe bum a ride too?

It been so long since I've driven in a 1st Gen that I've just about forgotten how fun it is.... :)

Greg I would even let you drive it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a chance to meet with Craig on my business trip to Houston this week.

This truck is NICE!

I can't even describe how awesome it was to see a nicely restored, running and driving 1st Gen... The sun was out and we took a ride out to get some great Texas barbeque. It felt great to have that familiar (albeit distant memory) sensation of sitting up high with the wind blowing and the sights, and sounds of a classic truck moving us down the road. :waytogo:

He is a man of his word, and he did offer me the keys.... But to honest, I just couldn't live with myself if I got into an accident in an unfamiliar area, in someone else's pride and joy. :doah: Yeah......it's THAT nice.

Anyway. It was an inspirational visit... And it really makes me want to keep moving my own project forward so that I can take those kinds of lunch trips more often....

Awesome to hear its as nice as it looks- and more importantly that he's a stand up guy:thumb:

I am re-naming greg72 to greg72-411. Greg has forgotten more about blazer than I will ever know or he has a photographic memory. I will say it was a great visit, we need a first gen convention. Talking blazer with someone who actually knows what he talking about is considerably more enjoyable than talking to people who think its a Bronco.

Seriously in the last 24 hrs I have been ask is that a bronco about dozen time. I am begging to hate broncos. I tell them way to tell them apart the bronco is small and ugly and the blazer big and bad.

I think greg has convince me to go fuel injection instead of new carb. Whats another couple thousand more I am just twice my budget now.

Yep . . .

2003 Tahoe 3rd row. there is actually room for two rows of seats. The sell kits on ebay that makes them easy to install. I didn't like my kids rolling around in the old bench seat with a lap belt.

My thinking exactly.

Meh.... You're on the downward slope of a full restoration, a couple grand here and there is just part of the game. :D I'd say, look into the Atomic EFI or one of the other self-learning standalone TBI-style units. The engine will still look relatively "stock" but will run smooth, and you won't burn your eyes with a rich fuel mixture.

After that, you can mess around with that shock testing we talked about.... Then a softer front spring pack (my guess is THATS where the issue is)... And do a shackle flip out back, and set of late-model K5 springs (stock leaf pack, not a lift spring)... They are SOFT and will ride great with the flip kit. If you are still getting bump steer you can do crossover steering..... Don't forget to either remove or at least trim back that factory spring stop on the drivers side to prevent dartiness under hard braking... :waytogo:

Small, incremental tweaks like those (as you have time and budget) are just going to make the truck run and drive that much sweeter and will make it even more fun to drive.

If you have any questions, you know how to find me...

Yea, what is that about??!! I get the same thing all the time. Except I do get at least one "nice k5" pretty much every time I drive it out to the hardware store.

At least they aren't saying "Nice Jeep!"..... :haha:

I get a kick out of enthusiasts like that. Especially the ones who tell you that they used to have a truck JUST like yours......

.....except it was a different color, and didn't have a suspension lift........ And it was a Ford.........and actually it was a station wagon. :dunno:

Oh, I'm in the same boat, looks like a great solution!

I had someone who thought it was a international harvester, I said like the tractor? I am pretty sure he meant scout. Regardless I was insulted. I have also been ask who chopped it, he was also the guy who ask if it was 56 or 57, who also says he owns 4 old cars himself. On the positive side I have had few females that loved it which is better than attention I get from teenage boys.

lights

None of my rear lights work. Not reverse, brake, tail or blinkers.

No blown fuses, I replace the head light switch.

Any ideas on trouble shooting?

There is a plug/socket in the rear harness that runs along the drivers side framerail. You'll find it near the fuel tank area.... (Round style plug)

My guess is that it's either badly corroded, or possibly just disconnected. The harness is 4 wires (two greens a brown and a black) if I remember correctly.

Not even plugged in. I plugged it in and still doesn't work. There's a couple cut wires generally a rats nest. I will work on it some more tomorrow. Greg thanks for the great tip.

well it made the licence plate light work and blinkers, but no power to the tail or brake lights still.
