Im gonna trim the Flare part of my fender off... Just to right above the flare in the front, and the same height in the rear... So the fenders are the same height.

In that pic that shows my inner part of fender in rear rubbing tire... that is Fiberglass..... the whole bottom of that rear fender is glass over some rust. Thanks P>O... thanks...

If i trim up a little ways it will be gone, then no worries. One less rust spot to deal with. And the fronts slightly rub anyways, so this will give me some breathing room.

Thoughts? Ideas?

That was the first thing I did to my 76 when it had a 2.5" lift and 33" tires and I went to 35".
I went flush with the top of the fender well and never had to worry about rubbing after that.
It was overkill for me but I wanted to make sure I did it once and figured I could always go bigger tires.

It might just be the pic, but it looks like it dips down in the middle.

Looks really good tho! :D

You should come cut my fenders.... I suck at hacking up sheetmetal.

I'm just expecting Chris's Blazer to look like MTNBLZR's pretty soon. Notice they both started out looking so good and stock. It's a downward (?) spiral.

Lol... Well i dont "plan" on jacking my sheetmetal up. We will see though. Im always pretty concious of were i am in relation to rocks/trees etc.

Plus this truck is such a rustbucket. It just appears to be nice and clean :haha:

It looks nice.
Are you going to do anything at the edge of the metal?

Did you flex it out yet to make sure it doesn't touch the 42's?

Thanks!

Rears wont rub at all, and front should have plenty o clearance. i may be able to get a lil more uptravel as well

Not sure if im gonna do anything to the exposed metal. Someone i saw welded some small angle iron right inside the fender. Seemed pretty cool.

I know im gonna get a bunch of crap up in there, but now there is no area for it to get stuck, so it will be able to be hosed out.

Was gonna grab a stick of 1.5 shcd 40 to mess with on a bumper but placed wanted 4.75 a foot.

F THAT. So will be waiting and getting some from dads shop

When I first cut my fenders, I sprayed a little primer on an acid brush and brushed it on the bare metal so it wouldn't rust. It worked. When I went back a few months later and trimmed some more, I didn't use the primer. It started rusting pretty bad after a while. And mine's an '85 so you know it's a lot less susceptable to rust than the older ones like yours. I would do something like that if I were you.

Thanks!

No need for added steel, I just rolled the edges, and I can show you how when I swing by soon to get my stuff.

So wheelin today...

Truck did awesome. i was all over the rocks. Def need doubler and hydro assist. My steering was meh.

Got in a few hairy situations and made it out alive.

Got my first rock rash! Came down off the side and dropped on a rock and got my fender and bottom of door. So it has begun

Also sheared alll but 3 bolts off my front spring hanger. Was bound up good and had to back up a big rock and heard a LOUD, POP! I was like fuuuuu, axleshaft. Then got out and looked and my driver spring was held on by one bolt up top. So used a come along and 2 highlifts to get it back in position, and stuck some more bolts in it and wheeled the rest of the day.

I will be welding it up tommorow.

A lot of people were surprised when they saw how capable i was, then to find out i had 4.10s and no doubler. So with some deeper action its gonna rock. left my camera at home like a renoB, so waiting for some peeps from pirate to post some pics.
